January is Nearly Gone!

Since this year is about 'enjoy' and I have limited my projects (hard with all the great stuff going on) - the near end of the first month has come faster than I thought.  The few things I did have on my 'month' list have been finished, but that gives me more time to play.  I gifted out a number of things this month, but there is still a huge supply here.

I was going to just work RSC17 with the piggy blocks, but since my 2" barrel is running into a second barrel - well, I'm playing.  Whether I use these blocks or I pass them on - they are using up those scraps rather than having them sit (and multiply).

I was going to put the bear section and the paw section together next month, but since I had extra time the Black Bear is walking along a little faster.  A couple of borders go on before I have to think about that border that had the little paw blocks.  I'm not doing those again, but haven't been inspired by something else yet.

Boring picture, but I did have another finish and this one had NO borders!  Since this is a test pattern I cannot show the full quilt.  I seem to be in the 'organic line' quilting phase, but it is quick and easy and gives movement.

Speaking of borders (again), I sorted thru my UFO-flimsy tub and the goal is to get that puppy emptied this year.  It seems that most of my projects in there are sitting because they need borders.  I at least attached notes, some sketches, some math and possible fabrics with each quilt - so it is just a matter of putting on the Big Girl Panties and getting them done.

This one will be ready to hand off to my long armer on Tuesday - we have missed her two weeks in a row because of snow/ice storms.  There is a big pile of quilts here (students, mom, and me) for her that will keep her busy for a while.

Linking up with Soscrappy, Oh Scrap, and Whoop, Whoop Friday .  No Feline Friday post as my furkids have been in hiding mode as several large trucks have been up here.  They hate large trucks, hate large trucks that are noisy, hate large, noisy trucks that go 'beep, beep, beep' when they back up.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

So good the cats or kitties hide when big trucks come, that is so safe!!! Love the purple blocks. And progress, I am still doing the 150 Canadian Women blocks, and the 3 each week is just doable for me.

I really like those little purple four-patches and how you've set them. I too must put on my big girl pants and do the math and put some blocks together, I have stacks of blocks just ready to be sewn into a quilt top.

Good for you on pulling out those UFOs and getting them done. Borders can be a real hold up - but getting them finished will feel so darn good.

PURPLE scraps, a walking Bear, and a completed quilt? Nice work!! Best of luck with the border-ing.

So i tried to leave a comment with my updated Bloglovin app and it's a bust. Bummer!! Bleu would be hiding with your kids - he freaks when car doors slam anywhere in our neighborhood. "Someone " could be coming to his house. Yikes 🙀

I love those little on-point four patches! And I can't believe you're tackling another bear, with or without the little paw borders! Such a great quilt, but big and puzzley!

Bear paws in green. Lovely. Good to have a handle on the purple. Now I wonder what's on the flip side of that quilt

I'm with your cats! I hate big trucks that go beep, beep, beep when they back up too!
Nice four patches! Love the Bear Paw quilt, at first when I saw it, it looked like a window looking outside!

The end of the month already, kinda hard to pin it down. I get so busy "doing and doing" that I haven't taken any time to play with my strip or scrap bins lately, thanks for the reminder. At some point last year I was playing with 4 patches, time to look at it again, after I finish those hour glass blocks!

January always seems to go so slowly, till you get to the last week. Love your Bear quilt! Hope you make lots of progress on working down your scrap pile and getting those borders on.

You've had a very productive January. Love the purple blocks and your bear quilt is fabulous, I must do some more work on mine. I love the bear paw blocks but they do take time to make. You fur kids have the right idea, avoid anything big, heavy, noisy and moving. Picasso follows the same rules

That pile of purple blocks is really pretty and looks like some fun play. Big girl panties? Don't do it! that can lead to all kinds of responsible behavior, just keep playing, LOL. Why are there big noisy trucks at your place?

Oh boy, I love a quilt with no borders. Doesn't happen very often. Every time I see the bear, I think I love it more. It's great not having so many goals, isn't it? Enjoying my sewing time more for sure.

LOVE your Black Bear quilt! Can't wait to see your test quilt - and I'm also quilting a project without borders - it's kind of liberating!

The good thing about borders means the end is almost there. So hang in there with them. I've,never seen that bear before. He is certainly mean and hungry looking. I'm like your cats. I hate big garbage trucks at 6 a.m. That rumble and beep.

Loving your new bear paw and the little purples look great.

Borders used to stall my projects too. Once I stopped putting them on my quilts, I have more finishes :)

Thanks for linking up with Oh Scrap!

Love these purple blocks! You have surprised me by giving me a solution to my leader/ender project! Your blocks are fabulous as is your bear quilt! Thank you for sharing!
