Today I hope to get the panels of Court House blocks stitched together. And I will push myself to get the borders on as well so I have a flimsy ready for quilting. There might even be something on the shelf to piece a back.
I have nothing better to do as like many, we are bracing for the 'big' storm. We are in one of those little dark purple circles (or blobs) and may see 20" of snow - YEAH!! NOT!!! Dinner will be in the crock pot.
Some new followers have asked about my 'barrel' system for scraps. I have been blessed by my daughter's family with the large snack barrels and my kitties offer up the little treat barrels. I keep from 1.5" up to 5" color squares in half inch increments in the large and my whites and lites in the snack size. I cut any small left overs down once a project is finished making it easier to grab a barrel of 'pre-cuts' for scrappy items. If a certain size barrel gets really packed, I have go-to patterns that I know will use them up or at least give some breathing room.
Thank you for showing your barrel system. I was wondering what you were talking about at times. As for the snow, I'll be having a sewing day today too, but with no where near as much snow as you will get. (I'm down in southern NJ.) We will have enough to make the landscape beautiful.
Your courthouse steps are so precise and gorgeous! Good luck with the border addition!
That Courthouse Steps top looks really nice in green and blue. Will make a good guy quilt. You certainly live in the "sweet spot" for big snows and rainy deluges. We're on the fringe so maybe 6" total between two different events. Our snow tomorrow will come from the back side of the storm blowing across Lake Ontario. We're well stocked with provisions and I have no lack of quilt projects.
Love your almost flimsy. Your scrap system is one i adopted and love. My favorite sizes to use are 1.5 and 2.5.who knew
Nice Court House Steps quilt top in the works! Great barrel system, we all need some kind of system to help keep us organized!
We ended up with way too much snow - it's hard to guess exactly how much since the winds keep picking it back up and dumping it back down faster than I can measure! How long until spring?
I may employ your barrel system to catch my crumbs. They're getting dropped in a little box at the moment, but I think the barrel will work better and be prettier to boot!
We were lucky and only got 9" out of the last snow storm. I hope you didn't get whacked too bad. Another one is hitting tomorrow, and will probably head your way, too.
Wow, you really got a move on with those court house step blocks. Hopefully you didn't get as much snow as they were forecasting. We have an ice storm forecast for Monday. I'd much rather have snow. Stay warm!
