In A Bind
I have three large quilts to bind and that was my weekend plan - simple, NOPE. It took me longer to actually quilt my lozenges quilt because these two find it quite comfy and they weren't moving no matter what so I could do the bindings.
I even switched and used my little machine to make up the bindings - yeah, they look rather boring here Two of the same mocha brown (from the trimmings of the backing from one quilt) and the other is a grey/green with little red flower and small lite green leaf. This is how I use them in a lose fold plopped in the center of the quilt and just go. Never have a problem with tangles or knots - it works for me.
These two still won't budge - so I moved my Juki to another table and started on the largest quilt - which I can't show you because it is a designer's test quilt and has not been released.
And then I had furkids change napping - my sewing chair (which is my wheelchair), the quilt under the machine, the new chair set up for sewing. Maybe with all this changing of patterns caused the 'oops'. I literally sewed my left index finger with binding to the quilt - not one, not two, but three stitches right thru. No broken needle or bits - everything right straight thru (even the bone). And they call this a hobby!
Yeah, that's the machine that sews thru material, wood, metal, bones. When I returned to task (yeah, did get that first one finished) with quilt number two - yup, sidelined again. Neither would touch the back (plain muslin), but once I flipped it over........
they both had to snuggle it. This is my bow tie quilt with the last of my sons' flannel shirts. Oh, Moe - he's back on the lozenges quilt.
I have to move everything back to it's normal set up as my SIL will be down to sew and furkids will have to nap elsewhere - I want to finish these bindings as I'm two days (and one finger) behind schedule.
And we had SNOW!!

oh no! no sewing thru fingers allowed! hope you are ok. did you get a "catscan" to make sure you were allset? I couldnt resist. hee hee quilts are cat magnets for sure. mine jump on my "design floor" and rearrange blocks for me. just because- pretty quilts
Oh ouch Sharon!! That machine is amazing if it can sew thru bone without issues. I hope your finger heals quickly.
Oh No, I knew the Juki's were strong but yikes! With all of the help you had I'm surprised that you didn't get everything done :) It's nice to see them curled up together, how's Moe doing?
whoa! You must be related to Superman because I would have been spewing blood and emitting sounds like screams that would turn the universe upside down! sure hope it is okay.....you just pushed on I see to conquer that mountain of bindings. Hope you heal quickly and the cats will find a new bed of comfort I know. You said it would snow :)
Hi Sharon,oh no,i do hope your finger is ok,those pussy cats as so funny and look so comfortable.xx
Your fur balls know that your quilts brings lots of warmth and comfort. Good luck on finishing the quilts.
Sharon, you are my hero!! To sew your finger and still keep on going.. What a trooper you are. The fur buddies seem to want to be very close to you for the Love they get from you..
Best to you on getting all the bindings done, Maybe your SIL will help..
Yikes! I've come much too close to doing that a couple of times recently. Makes me cringe thinking about it. You are a very accommodating cat mama.
Oh Sharon....ouch!!! I hope your finger will be better soon. That hurts like a bugger!
It does look like a challenging task with those fur babies on your quilts. Don't stitch through them.
So sorry to hear about your finger. Please take good care of it cause it is so much easier to quilt when you have the use of all 10. I love that the cats rule.
You are NOT supposed to sew thru your finger (Ouch!)
OH NO!! that sounds terrible! I think I would have curled up on the couch for the rest of the day feeling sorry for myself! Your cats didnt seem to have much sympathy either 1
Oh MY!! You certainly were not destined to get those bindings done, were you?!
Many years ago I stapled through my nail at work. . . . but I haven't sewn through my finger yet. . . .and I hope that I don't do it in the near future because DH would never hear me screaming (I swear he needs a hearing test!). . .LOL
On the practical side. . . . when was the last tetanus shot? Perhaps you should get one?
Hope your finger is back to normal soon.
Ouch! At least you know you're getting your money's worth on the needles! LOL! I had to stop one time while in the middle of attaching a binding, and I was very surprised that when I returned, there was no cat on top of the quilt. That's because she was under it. Gotta love them.
Your furkids love your quilts. So sweet. Your poor finger. Hope all goes smoothly when you get your hands on those quilts.
Oh Sharon! Bet that hurt. And bled (hopefully not all over the quilt). You are so patient with those two LOL. Its a wonder they let you do anything at your machine.
Ohhhh what characters ! Hope your finger is OK... xox
Oh dear, Sharon. I hope your finger is better soon. Gives me the shivers just thinking about it! Those two cats are very cheeky.
OMG - thru the bone and all. That would be terrifying. I am going to go out on a limb and say you had a new/sharp needle! Hope it heals soon!!
Glad to hear both the furkids are inside and safe. Z spent the day out in the snow Saturday night/Sunday day since he didn't come home before I went to retreat. I drove around the neighborhood twice to look for him. He stayed inside today :) I trust Moe is still doing the same...
Ow!!!! I'm cringing just thinking about it!
I've sewed down *to* the bone, but never *through* the bone...
YUCK!!! Hope you are alright.....(goose bumps) Kitties do take over from time to time.
Oh no... are you okay? Those little snuggle bunnies are too sweet!
Perseverance through roadblocks.....oops..... catnaps...makes a committed sewer!
Oh ouch! Hope the finger is healing well and an not causing you too much trouble. Hope all the bindings are done now.
Big ouch! Those furkids sure make getting your "work" done a lot more difficult. :)
You poor thing. Hope you're doing okay still. 3 stitches you must have been moving along.
I tell you must make fabulously comfortable quilts. LOL Cats do make themselves at home. lol
