See You In September Hop

I would like to thank Mdm Samm for the inspiration of this hop and Shari for putting together the schedule and being our head cheerleader.  When I saw the announcement for this hop, I was immediately reminded of my 4-H years so long ago.  Learning to make gingham aprons with hen scratch designs across the hem and on the pockets - and no, I didn't revisit them.

And I get to share my day with these very creative people:

Boy, sharing what I did over the summer!  Some people call me an over acheiver, but when you have three machines set up and ready to hum - you sew.

JUNE PROJECTS

JULY PROJECTS

AUGUST PROJECTS

GINGHAM PROJECTS

I had pulled this cute Riley Blake panel out to play with right at the same time the hop was announced.  I ordered some complimentary ginghams, pulled some shot cottons, and immediately started cutting this panel apart so it was ready when those ginghams arrived.

I was able to get a 7 1/4" square from each of those cute sections and framed them with a mix of shot cottons and gingham.  I used a mix of  small and large gingham to add a little texture. My kids and I did a lot of camping when they were little and so many of these cute 'frames' remind me of our adventures.  Now my grandsons are learning camping - in the back yard.

A fun little camp quilt filled with how to make Smor's, wildlife, camp signs, catching fireflies, making tents, being a happy camper.  I quilted it simply with a 'patched' serpentine to add to the comfy, cozy needed for camp night sleeps.

I used a a double polar fleece with cute bear paw print for the back, Quilter's Dream Select for batting, that great large brown gingham for the binding, and one of the smaller bits of panel was used for the label.  The Riley Blake panel is called 'Camp-A-Lot' so that is the name of the quilt.

Being a scrap quilter, I wasn't going to let any of this panel or gingham go to waste.  And we all need a pillow to go with our camp quilt.  Since this made for an odd size pillow, I made my own pillow insert and left a little room so jammies can be folded and stored inside, too. Yes, you store your jammies in your pillow to keep them warm, dry, and spider free.

There was still a little left over, so I made a ditty bag to carry personal necessities and little zip bag for some coins for the camp store.

And the other side of the bags used up some of those cute bits of panel.

Had to use that gingham on the back of the pillow and for the lining of the bags.

A complete camping set for the young camper - think I'll have to go make some Smor's now.  But, before I go - I have a give away......

A half yard of each - Riley Blake's 'Twice as Nice' with those cute pick-up trucks, some plaid and dots to go with it.  Just be sure I have a way to contact you - open internationally.  Comments open until Sept 20th 10pm (EST) and I will contact the winner immediately after.

Thank you for stopping by and be sure to visit today's list,
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

Sharon, I know you have been creating all summer! Even if I had ten machines I could not do all you do.
I just love your camping projects. I love it when a panel can be used for all sorts of things. I love the quilt. The gingham adds such a great touch. And the pillow and other necessities . Your campers will be all set when indian summer arrives!

Oh, Sharon - Your summer has been full and I love the whole camping ensemble, especially the pillow with room for jammies. Ya, know, I am not much of a camper even in my younger years, but the few times I have been camping, I never thought to put my jammies inside the pillow case to keep the spiders out. So fun!! Cute, cute giveaway, but please leave my name off for it, will you - too much fabric here already! :-))

Sharon, since I follow you on Bloglovin', I know you been creating all summer. And, I haven't made one thing all summer. For shame, for shame, for shame. I just can't seem to get my creativity going since my husband died. I do well to get an education segment for guild once a month. I seem to be able to do that. Sometimes, I do make something for that. I did paper piece a bra for that - lol. I love that gingham project and how used you used every inch of the gingham. You even made a jammie bag. That's important. My eagle scout would know that. I'm trying to get him to think about getting his son involved in cub scouts. He didn't get involved in scouting until he was 14. Thanks for all the inspiration. As always, thanks for participating in the hop and you have no idea how you brighten my day.
