Diamonds in the Rough

 

All 54 diamonds - or square in a square - are progressing.  The last corner will be blues and they are all cut and ready once some time comes to chain them thru the machine.  Then they will need a trim, sewn into rows, and then added to the round robin project.

April Fools Day didn't play the trick, but waiting a couple of days to surprise us with this.  It warmed up later in the day to change things to rain and it was all gone by evening.  But it was an 'oh, not again' moment!

Happy April Fools Day

 

Hopefully there will be no pranks today.  Things have been more of a "When"sday - when did I do this, when do I need to take care of this, when did the days *weeks* go, when did I forget about my blog????

March was more of a prankster - cold with snow, warm and sun, wind with heavy rains.  Made for it very hard to adjust body and mind.

All those "whens" put me behind on our guild's next challenge - at home round robin.  I have to catch up on the last 3 rounds.  So I found some ME time to pull scraps from the CW tote (use the smallest bits up first before cutting new please).  Just re-visiting and touching those lovelies made things a bit better.

I like working in groups of 10 - makes counting and time use work for me during all these "whens".  All 54 blocks have had their parts cut and grouped so I can grab my time with 10 as I can find it.

I sorted into possible usage piles for the other two rounds so hopefully it will make for quick work once I have time away from the "whens"days.  I'm really hoping April brings more of a Spring Time weather as I need to do a lot of yard work.

Who's Got Time

 

First, thank you CAROL for hosting this Hop.  Time In A Bottle comes with the changing of the clocks that gets us so confused!!  Jumping forward or is it jumping back?  Our body clocks say GEESH!!!  But I'm sure that we will all be inspired to take a little time - a little stitching time.

 I chose a patterm by the lovely designer, Pam Bono.  She was the first person that I tested patterns for many years ago.  Sadly we lost Pam a few years ago, but her patterns are still being used and sought after.

The pattern is called  "North and South".  The arrow heads are made with the hour glass block while the shafts are simple rail fence blocks.

Of course I had to use my favorite homespuns and flannels with scraps of muslin for the background.  Very 'cabin in the woods' look to it. 

It has a plaid flannel back, quilter's flannel for the batting and quilted by hand with the 'big stitch'.  This is MY quilt and will hang over the banister of the winding stairway.

Let It Go

 

Like everyone, I got tired of hearing that song after a while.  BUT I know associate let it go with all these storms.  It just doesn't stop.  While it makes for 'pretty' pictures, it does get tiring on the soul.  We are in for another dumpster storm this weekend.

My quilting projects have been commissions, so no permission - no photos.  I did send out a large quilt of my own to be quilted - just to get something done.  Now I hope power stays so I can wrap up commissions and get the binding on my own. 

I do have my piece ready for the next HOP.
