Whooping Friday

I don't make resolutions, but I think we can all relate to this.  This is why I need to but my 'right foot' forward thru the year and concentrate on finishing more projects.

This isn't that old a project, but I had planned on finishing for a certain granson's birthday.  This is the HP QAL with Lorna @ Sew Fresh Quilts and still a free pattern.  When I pulled this out...............

I thought It was ready to just put borders on. NOT!!  I didn't even have the last row done.  When I laid it out it didn't look right - or the right size.  I checked the pattern and had completely forgotten a section of the castle.  NO - I am not taking that apart.  So I came up with another plan to get this done.

The missing section had the moon over it, so I just made my moon to the left of the castle on it's own.  Problem solved.  I even bit the bullet and got the three borders on.  Now to find the backing I bought for this and cut a length of batting so I can get this sandwiched up and start quilting.  My grandson has waited this long for it, I don't think he will mind if I hang on to it for the April quilt show (just a few blocks from their house).

That will have to wait for Sunday as Saturday I am giving a share and trunk show at a neighboring county quilt guild.  I say share instead of lecture - that is such a harsh word.  I'm sharing my ideas on scrap quilting and packed a lot of quilt flimsies (take up less room) because I have LOTS of those - like everyone else.

Sewingly Yours

Your Harry Potter top looks great and I'm sure the young man can wail a while longer, especially if he gets to see it in a show!

That is such a fun quilt! Congrats on sticking with it to get the borders on, that is a step that you always think will go faster than it does. Enjoy your trunk show today. Happy stitching tomorrow.

I love that resolution...saw it on Facebook yesterday. The Mulligan Stew quilt I’m hand-quilting is from 2013. I hope never to have such an old project on my list ever again. This year is the year of finishing up some of these oldtimers.

I love the Harry Potter quilt. It looks like the moon is shining just over Hedwig's wing (kind of like "These are a few of my favorite things," with an owl substituting for wild geese). The resolution is great. I would have to wind each of the years back a few. I have to finish some projects that go back to at least 2010. I've been trying to convince myself that UFO's age like fine wine.

You are off to a great start getting the HP quilt ready to sandwich. I'm off for 10 weeks in FL and TX so even though I'm taking some projects with me, I'll fall behind on several.

Most of my UFO's started long before 2015. I like the Harry Potter quilt.
