Help for Hexie-Aholics

I wanted to link up and share with Sarah that I did finish my class projects.  I only had one more hexie to add to the 30's style.  I struggled with the Batik one - not because it was a little more at task to needle, but I really hate working with Batiks (they make me shudder and my hands sweat and itch).  I did cheat on the jewel cuts - machine sewn.  Not sure I am a Hexie-Aholic yet.

After a few days of just hand stitching and lots of travel/meeting time, I needed to connect with my machine.  Using the Scrap Challenge I wanted to tame my string tote (again).  I have made enough string blocks to choke on, so went with log cabins.  Just the last strips to add and then this can go into a flimsy.  And now I can close the lid on that tote. *yes, those 30's JR strips in the back just might (I said might) become a Grandmother's Garden.

Because the furkids have been missing of late (they have hated that I have been away too many days), Moe was my sidekick - of sorts - while I stitched those log cabins.  Bella is holding a grudge and hiding upstairs.  She cracks me up, as soon as the machine stops, she runs downstairs to see if I am still there.  If I speak to her, she runs back up - snot!

I have to clean up and set the banquet table back up again - I have a baby quilt to do for a student and I might as well get one of mine done as long as I have things on a roll.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

Your comments about Bella's reaction to you coming/being home made me laugh.

Poor, Bella. Cats are such fun. In a former job I traveled a bit. My furrbaby would love and love on me when I got home .... until he remembered he was "mad at me" .... then he would hiss and nip me. This would go on for a couple of days.

If you don't prewash your fabrics, you might be having a reaction to the sizing chemicals they put in batiks.

I really don't like hexies, I always wonder if they're worth so much work although I do like your purple floral one. That's so funny about Bella, you should have hid then jumped out and surprised her, she's already angry with you.

Bella is telling you a thing or two!! ;-)

Those logs look great. I must admit that I am not a hexie person either - batik or otherwise.

I think Bella runs down to check on you because she has some nefarious plan for your next absence. At least that would have been the case with one of my cats.

I think there's a hexie in my future somewhere - I keep bookmarking sites and collecting patterns and pins. It's only a matter of time, now...
I laughed about Bella - I can just picture her!

I used to have a cat that we would leave at home alone when we went on vacation, with a friend coming in and feeding her every day. When we returned, she would get up and stalk out of the room if we came in, for exactly as many days as we were gone. Weird cat!

for leisurely sewing I like to do hexies but due to bad finger joints can not do it for long periods, can imagine the log cabin tote will soon be finished hope to see a photo soon. Cats are so funny if you leave them when I have Alfie for Helen he runs and gets on my bed hen she comes to take him home and sulks like yours!

Another week with a lot of progress. Love those jewel cut pieces, very pretty. Hope the fur kids have forgiven you and are being very cuddly. If it's as cool there as it is here, a bit of cuddling would be a welcome thing.
