Magical

A garden gnome or lawn gnome is a figurine of a small humanoid creature, usually wearing a pointy hat, produced for the purpose of ornamentation and protection from evil sorcery, typically of gardens or on lawns. These figurines originate in 19th century Germany, where they became known as Gartenzwerg (literally "garden dwarf"). The application of the term gnome in English is first attested in the 1930s.

I find Gnomes a bit scary and have teased so many that I was going to sneak them in their gardens. Well, this little creature appeared in my garden and I have yet to find out who brought him into my garden. But, he is cute, so he can stay. And he must have some magic in him as the flowers are just spectacular this year. AND my computer is back with nothing more drastic than needing a GOOD cleaning (cat hair).

WINNINGS

I am waiting for this lovely Jelly Roll to arrive from Megan of CrookedSeams for the 'Let Me See Your Jelly Roll' monthly challenge'.

I won a gift certificate to The Fat Quarter Shop for the Hands2Help and this is what I picked out. 'Cauterwauling Tales' by Sue March for RJR Fabrics. A cute panel with matching FQs - a quilt (maybe pillow too) for my grand daughter for Christmas.

And the lovely Marcia of Crafty, Sewing, and Quilting gifted me as a Promotion Angel for her 'Garage Sale'. Gorgeous 'Nancy's Harvest' by Nancy Halvorsen for Benartex Fabrics. I have a project in mind for them, but that will wait for August.

DESIGN WALL

This is my next Jelly Roll Challenge piece - Pastel Bella Solids. I am grabbing some sewing inbetween prep work on two other projects - YES, I work several projects at a time, don't you?

And slowly progressing. Very Easter Egg looking, LOL!!

A peek at a joint-venture project with my SIL. She did all the piecing, I did the borders, shared the embellishing, and I quilted while she did the label. Just a few little bits and we should be done today so it can be delivered Tuesday. I will be sure to get photos - a surprise gift for a returning business to our 'still recovering' town from Irene - yes, our hair dresser, but a sweetie who could have said "good-bye' like so many, but insistant on returning.

REMINDERS

A lot of new buttons added to the side bar. One you may take special note of is '100 Quilts for Kids' spearheaded by the lovely Katie of Swim,Bike,Quilt - and I have checked with her - yes, you can use your Hands2Help quilts to enter. She has a list of donations sites or you can chose your own/local donation.

CLOSING THOUGHT

Garden Sanctuary
You who walk,
Maybe with troubled thoughts,
Come, enter here and rest;
And may the sweet serenity of growing things,
And the heavenly peace,
Be mirrored in thy soul.
-Doris M. Palmer

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

Yes, to your question of do we have a few projects going at the same time.. LOL..OH, A FEW!!! It's nice to have a variety to choose from. And how can anyone work on only one at a time with all the wonderful choices out there.

Have fun with you projects...your solids quilt is very pretty and modern. Really like the look!

Lovely fabrics I;m sure you'll make good use of them. It must be fun having your SIL to sew with.
Thanks for always keeping us updated with new QALs. There are so many great things going on right now it's hard to keep up with them all.

You do have some good buttons added for me to check out.

Amy just loves gnomes. She always has. How funny that one should show up in your beautiful garden. He looks pretty jolly though.

No need reply. I'm hopping along your posts as I couldn't resist.

Oh...is there something big going on in August? Never mind, please do reply as I've an idea--but may need to push back to September. I'll tell you more in the morning (or during nap time) tomorrow.
