Leaf - Sand - Block

This wonderful box arrived at my house and I am going to play for the next few days.  And while playing, I am thinking about how it makes me feel.

Yes, boxes are good cat traps - and Moe gives you an idea of how BIG this box is.  While I was pulling treasures to play with, it made for a nice 'nest' for a cat nap.

Normally I would just dump this box and play in all the goodness like a child plays in a leaf pile (the snoring cat made me reconsider).  Do you like to play in leaf piles?  Do they make you light hearted, giddy, light headed?

As you rake and pile and tame - do find contentment?  Or do you want to jump back in and scatter it all?  Lots of 2.5" strips for strattas to chop up and pieces to make up 16-patches for the Sweet16 QAL patterns being offered for Hands2Help.

Or do you prefer to play in a sand box?  Boxes of small grains of sand that can be molded into all kinds of shapes.

Do those small grains let your imagination soar or be down right planned with it?  Do you build your whole project or do you leave it partially done and cover it back up to play with another day?  I just pulled all the shades of blue for the RSC15 - 70 lovely HSTs - yes, put back and covered for another day of play.

Or do you think of it as playing with building blocks?  Getting out the box of bricks, cubes, triangles, squares - ready to play?

The fun of putting all those things into a pattern - one building into another building into another building.

I finally got to dump that box and even my Mom came to play - she took all the real skinny long strips to teach someone how to make a rug like she has done.  Now if I can get these two out of the leaf pile, I can play some more myself.  Yeah, they are not happy I took the box away.

Now I save these treasures, but not for me to play with - they are to share with you.  My salvedge baggy is stuffed full again and they need to go to a new home.  So if you would like them to play with - tell me, are you a leaf jumper, a sand shaper, or a block builder?  Will ship international - comments open until Thursday, Jan. 29th (10pm EST)

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

I'm not sure which I am -- a box like that is like a treasure chest to me! Thanks for the offer but I don't need more scraps of any kind! LOL

I am a leaf jumper. I find great contentment as I rake and pile; yet jumping back in to shatter it all about is such fun.

WOW - I feel like I just came in from recess - unfortunately I didn't get any sand in my shoes

Oh what fun! That's the best kind of fun. What type of rugs does your mom make with the long strings? I've been researching looms and braiding and how to hook a rug with 1" strips. I haven't found my nitch yet, but I want to get in to that.

What a wonderful time you had playing yesterday! I'm a block builder--I used to fight with my little kids over who got to play with the Legos! And I have the perfect idea of how to use those selvedges!

What a lucky lady, getting a box of goodies to dive into! Unknown territory to explore always makes me want to jump right in and see what's in there. I'm not a candidate for the giveaway (my boxes overfloweth!) but congrats on the winner of this generous offer. Keep having fun!

I'm a block builder. It reminds me of playing with the bricks and Lincoln Logs. Yet, I don't really enjoy Legos - you'd think a math major would love Legos, eh? On the other hand, my daughter is a high school math teacher and she finds it relaxing to help her 3 and 9 year old sons put their Lego projects together. Her older son thinks I'm inept at it.

Don't you just love receiving boxes filled with treasurers, especially when they're filled with pieces of all kinds of fabric. What fun to ooh and ahh with all those bits of fabric sifting through you fingers, like grains of sand. Thank you for this giveaway opportunity. lv2bquilting2@comcast.net

What fun to get a box filled with different material.

I keep giving all my selvedges away, too. Not sure I'll ever make anything with them. Poor kitties, they needed the box to play with, especially since you are supposed to get even more snow.

At my house I tend to jump right in!!! Oh I love pulling bits out of the pile to fondle and play with. But I have learned to dump mine on the table where kitties aren't allowed and place the box on the floor for them to play in. We all get play in something new and we are all happy!! Scrappy is my theme for the year and LOVE getting fresh infusions when I can.

Thanks for this fun post & give-away.

Leafs!!!!! But after a couple of times piling up the leafs and jumping in and piling up the leafs and jumping in I would use them to lay out lines like the walls of a house and one time even a maze!

Oh give me piles of leaves! :-) I love playing in fabric bits. Give the kitties the box back, and have fun in your leaves. Have a happy day!

I don't have sand around, I don't do leaves so I would be a block builder.

I'm a leaf jumper! It sounds like you are having fun in your big box.

I guess you can say I am a leaf jumper. When I am given scraps, I dump them all out, play with them, then sort them out!

My, you make such great use of scraps! Sometimes it's more fun to play with someone else's scraps!

Your perspective is so cool. Never thought of a pile of scraps as a pile of leaves. It's a perfect description. Enjoy the play time. Oh, and the cat looks so comfy in the box. Like it was sent to him and not you.
