The Snow Came

This is my porch - level with the snow instead of 3' up from the ground.

There is a tractor on the other side of that snowmound - my brother plowed from 8am until almost 5pm to get us un-buried.

They say we had 18" in the valley on top of the 16" we already had.  And 3-6" possible tomorrow!.

I worked on the next block for Quilt Doddle Designs 2014 BOM.  Cindy has the entire quilt charted out for 2.5" squares, but I am working with scraps that may not fit into that plan.

January was the row of snowmen - I need to blanket stitch the noses and I will add black button eyes as part of the quilting.

There is time to start this BOM - just visit HERE.

And my napping furries??  Bella is hiding upstairs as the sound of the plow and snowblower scare her.  Moe...............

He spent most of the day in the kitchen sink - why???

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

I feel your pain ... the snow is horrible here also. Poor kitty! Stay warm ;)

Your furries each have their own idea of what a fall out shelter should be. The sink picture is so funny. You got hit bad. I like your house. I went with the brown on mine but red looks much better.

I think all of us have been hit with some pretty bad snow, but it looks so beautiful, I just want it gone. Your blocks are coming along and look great. I must start taken pictures of my two cats, they curl up in the most unusual places.

I heard on the news here Down Under how bad the snow is affecting you all in US.
Stay warm and at least you can sit and sew....

The snow missed us. Thanks goodness. It is a kitty emergency shelter, at least in the feline's opinion.

The snow photos are so beautiful to us that are not used to the snow! The quilt doodle looks like it will be a fun BOM - like what you've done so far.

That's a lot of snow. So pretty so long as you don't have to get out in it.

Love the house block and your row of snowmen. You've been busy.

Moe made me laugh, does he usually hang out in the sink?

Your family village is just beautiful with all the snow.....so glad your brother can dig you out. I'm liking Moe's safety zone for some reason.

Love how your blocks are turning out. So glad that you are sewing along with me. I am also tired of snow. Poor Wilson can't romp around in the snow this year since it's too deep! I'm looking forward to spring. Thank you for sharing your BOM 2014 blocks...

Happy quilting,
Cindy

Oh my! I remember back when I was in high school -eons ago - we missed so much school and we only missed school if it was too cold for the buses to start or water too high! - that they started running buses along the main roads in order to have enough school days by law for us to finish school. Now some states have enacted laws as to dates school can be in session because of summer school for teachers, too! That year we had such floods that people could not get into town to get to school either. I can only imagine the flooding we are going to have when all this snow melts!!! This has been one terrific year! Luckily we have been pretty much spared in OK although many of the people would not tell you that as most of the districts have used their snow days in their school calendars already! Some of it is just from the bitter cold. I hope you are staying warm and safe and you are continuing to heal, heal, heal. I enjoy your blog so much. I love hearing about the kitties hunkering down in the cold, too! I have fibromyalgia and so the cold is brutal on me and I can tell when it's colder out - my kitties are hunkering down on me. Blessings!

This year is not my idea of a winter wonderland. Moe is hysterical. Our cat used to like to nap in the bathroom sink and got quite offended if anyone came in to use the room.
I like the house block without the pieced charm background. The roof fabric is perfect.

Cats and their quirks! They always keep us guessing don't they? So much snow all over this winter... bring on spring!

Lisa said...

Sounds like my house, yesterday a bunch melted today more snow! Your house looks great! Cat's do their own thing, must have felt safe there?

Yes it needs to stop, it looks so beautiful but brings so many problems. We have snow like that up here in Stratford and I haven't been out for awhile. I have trouble walking on sidewalk when there is no snow so I would be sure to fall on the ice and snow. Poor kitty Zeusie can be like that to when a lot of noise around he usually goes for under the bed. Have a wonderful day.

I do love your snow pictures. And well your kitty absolutely made my day!

While we've had more snow than usual it's been nothing like that - and I am so glad! It's time for some warmer temperatures here - should be in the 60s this week - but as always this time of year we'll get a few more cold days before it's over. blessings, marlene

My front porch looked the same before the hubs cleared the path. Poor Sunshine practically disappeared when she ventured out in it all and my mailbox looks like it is sitting on top of the huge mound. Spring can't come soon enough.
