Celtic Soltice Part #3

I had to finish up the part #2 chevrons, so here is part #1 and #2.  I am using my new machine and trying to get use to where the 1/4" is.  Also, she goes VERY FAST, so I am using a medium speed or my piecing might include one of my fingers.

I love to make HSTs and usually would try to use all those bits and pieces up to make these, but with the new machine I thought it would be best to use the 'make 8 at a time' method.  Lynn at Sew'n Wild Oaks has all the math charted out and nice tutorial is you have never used this method.

25 pinwheels and 100 little HSTs done and waiting for the next step.
** Linking up with Bonnie Hunter's Mystery **

And while working Celtic Soltice we are heading into Winter Soltice.....

No, I didn't grey scale these photos - this is how it has looked since Friday - cold, snow, and grey.  The sun might come out tomorrow and we are to climb into the 50's by the weekend - we shall see.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

Congrats on keeping up with the Mystery! I'm printing out the clues but giving the sewing a break this year. Too much else going on. Absolutely loving seeing everyone else's though :*) It has been very gray and blah and cold here too, although we did see a little sun today.

Wow, Sharon. That was fast. Nice collection of scraps. Sounds like you and your new machine are getting to know each other.

I finished a quilt that had over 700 2 inch HST's and blessed you through the whole thing for telling me about the 8 at a time method, it's wonderful.
Love the snow pictures, but I hope you see the sun soon.

I looked up the information on that little tool! I'm going to have to get one as HST's aren't my favorite thing to do. Yours look great and good for you to be so caught up on the mystery!

Our weather here looks about like yours only I'm afraid the sleet we're getting right now will freeze and make the roads horrible. Hoping for at least 40 degrees!

I am back in Canada now....have shovelled the driveway three times already and it is -28C (about 18 below F)...big change from Phoenix!

Oh my, your dark days look like Oregon! We have a cold sunny day here today: 29°. I have done that a eight at a time half square triangle tutorial. It is pretty slick how it works. I like your trees.
