Dump Quilt One

I had just the bag to take on Beth's dump-and-sew challenge.  A new surprise of fabrics awaits!

After dumping - sorting the few blues and greens out for other projects in progress - adding a few more from the big bin of scraps on hand - I have this wonderful pile of pinks to play with.

Then it was stitching heaven!  Pedal to the metal, no care seaming, just grab and go - my kind of sewing for sure.  If you haven't tried it, you are missing out.

And blocks started to grow and grow........

and grow, and grow..............

When I put blocks into rows, the only real focus I had was to be sure these cuties were all sitting upright.  We don't want any little girls on their pretty little heads!

And the quilt top is finished.  I did square up my scrappy blocks into 8.5" manageable blocks and set them 7 by 8 for a 56" x 64" quilt.  This pretty flimsie will be donated to Sarah's lovely group over at confessionsofafabricaddict

Have you made a dump quilt?  These go very quickly, so grap a bag or pile of scraps - start sewing for National Sewing Month and donate that quilt.   The Dump & Sew Linky Party will be Sept 10-15.
You have time - in fact, I have a second dump quilt in progress.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

I started mine last night. It is a hoot. I have a bunch of odd sized blocks done. I just need to see if they are ready to go together yet. Mined seem to have a lot of dots in the fabric choices ( can you guess why ).

It's so pretty. Who would have thought this wonderful flimsie would have come from a bag of scraps.

Amazing! You got that sweet little quilt out of nothing more than that bag of scraps? You are a magician Sharon!!! It sounds as if you had a lot of fun, and you ended up with a wonderful quilt for Sarah's group. Congratulations on a fun finish!

I did some "dump" quilting this weekend and ended up making 9 potholders. it goes so fast and is fun and carefree sewing.

It amazes me the things you can do with random fabric! You're such an inspiration and you make it look like such fun!!! Love the pinks--that really made it for me! :)

That turned out wonderfully. And I'm sure you will finish a 3rd or even a 4th dump top before you are done.
