An event scheduled almost 6 months ago and a much needed day away - the Catskill Mountain Quilters Hall of Fame Picnic held at CD Lane Park in Maplecrest, NY. What a lovely park and the huge pavillion makes for a perfect venue location.
Yes, we had food after a business meeting. So what are these people so interested in?
Being our guilds within the five counties of the Catskill Mountains are very rich heritage patterns and CW fabrics, we offered an education into a new realm - Modern Quilting. Amelia's Garden was invited to present a lecture and trunk show as well as offer a little 'shop' set-up for later. I think it was an eye opener enjoyed by all.
There were a lot of quilts and samples to help explain the different divisions of the modern artistry, but I think this quilt was the 'WOW' for everyone. I loved hearing the members stop Myra mid sentence with "who was that designer", "what was the name of that fabric line", "what is that pattern name again".
It was a great day with lots of talented quilters, great food, lovely weather and terrific program. A day I needed!
I haven't touched my sewing machine in days and needed to touch fabric. I was looking for some certain homespuns and dumped all my totes - boy I have a lot of homespun and shirting (and there is a large bag, too). I need to turn this into a quilt this fall.
Poor Bella is a bit tired out by all the stress around here. She has gotten to be rather 'scheduled' in her old age and when that is disrupted, she gets extremely nervous - cries, begs, hair falls out, paces. Today I was home all day and she had to be right by my side (or eye-sight) to relax.
My mom came home and then returned to the hospital. Let's say the family is rather furious with the early release and very poor care - it was a scene when we took her back.
I have some commission work (thank you lovely clients who are so understanding) to get to. I had to cancel a few events, but have one booking left in the month that I really must attend, so fingers crossed.

I did get the little CW charms into their boxed setting and the only thing left of the pile of beige scraps is that pile of left over muslin. This will sit for further work.
The two versions of the Chandelier Bead Blocks are finished in this month's RSC19 color - PINK. I had one Tiny Tuesday block to catch up in the blue - Churn Dash - which looks so different set on point.
I popped out on the 4th (just in town for a few things) and when I came back I caught a glimpse of something ruffling across the side field. By the time I got the camera, the ruffle was headed into the tree line along our neighbors. Do you want to guess?
Can you tell now? I'll try to close in without getting closer.
Mama skunk leading her '8' babies thru the fields after a drink at the rivelet and back up into their den. She's almost completely black, but look at all that white! One black with a large white mark across back and tail, but the rest are all white.
I am going to be taking a blogging break. I will have my post up for the 14th - the first day of the Christmas in July Hop. BUT I have a lot of things happening with an added twist - we had to put my Mom into the hospital on the 3rd. We don't know where that will lead yet - so family planning.

Since the storms passing, I thought I should check on some outdoor things. The lavender is almost in full bloom and he scent is lovely. I should have spun my hanger - a bouncy, bell kitty that looks like my Bella.
I lost a couple of seed geraniums, but still a splash of color for my little gecko to enjoy.
The large geraniums survived although a bit drenched - will have to let them dry out for a spell.
And I really expected to see the holly hocks brocken right off. These surprised us this year as they have always been a deep purple, almost black color. Fushia and pink!! They are hiding the 'Silver Bell' rose bush I bought my MOM many Mother's Days long ago. Not silver, but the brightest white.
BUT, I did know the storm would take away the full beauty of this almost 200 year old rose bush. Oh, the scent that flows from this!! AND the bees just love it - so you don't want to get too close. There's still lots of little blooms yet to open, so it will shine again.
Those pinks made me come back and get together my supplies for the new RSC19 color - PINK! All the pieces ready for the two versions of the Chandelier Bead Blocks.
I haven't been doing a lot of sewing as prepping for an upcoming event and some step outs for a class I will be teaching in a week. Then I need to get serious about finishing that Christmas in July project.

Looks like a flag! NO, starting a number of red/white strattas that will get sub-cut into two-patches for a nice mix in the next step of the Christmas in July project.
And fellow guild member, Diane, received some lovely CW charm packs for participation in the Hands2Help. I received a nice bundle of children's print flannels. I liked hers, she liked mine - so we swapped. This is "Emily's Homestead" and I could buy a FQ bundle of this - LOVE! Circa 1880-1900 repro prints . So I pulled some beige scraps that need using up and in progress.
So two projects, each with little bit different steps. But each will be set by a machine and I can do a quick sew as a pass either of the machines while I am busy prepping for some up-coming events.
We had a horrible storm front hit us yesterday and I was powered down all day - made me slow down for sure (and hide under the covers with the furkids from time to time as well). Today is better and I should get out for a walk to check damage - and see the sun.
