Scraptastic Tuesday 12/9/14

I'm linking up over at SheCanQuilt for the monthly report on how we handle scraps or how we play with them.

Since I finished up the scrappy log cabin blocks, I needed to find another scrap project.  I found some HSTs with cute little bugs and then pulled that bin that holds my brights scraps.  I found some bits of blue juvenile prints and strips of yellow.  I just started mixing and quickly had 20 cute log cabin blocks that will finish at 9".  I will sash them to make a charity quilt for our quilt guild collection in the Spring.

 While I was pulling those blues and yellows, I discovered a lot of pinks.  They quickly became another variety of log cabin block that need trimming - finishing at 16".  Again, these will become a charity quilt for our guild.

I have some left over flannels that I will use for backing on these.  I like flannel on the back of kid's quilts as they are both cuddly and prevent slipping off the bed.  And you don't need batt with them - for a nice summer quilt.

As I work my Oh,My,Gosh blocks (I am using 1.5" bits instead of 1" - so guess it is only an Oh,My), I have my over stuffed snack barrel of 2" square scraps to use as leader/enders that will be 9-patches for another project.

It's Give Away Day

Today starts the Give Away Day with SewMaMaSew which happens twice a year (May and December) and I always look forward to participating.

I have a Cherry Blossoms complete kit for her lovely 'Feather Fancy' wreath. Pattern and beautiful Island Batiks are in this kit and won't this make for a super Christmas present for yourself!

Slow Down

I think today I will take the time to slow down and join Kathy and others with some relaxing hand work.  I have 'cleaning the bathroom' on my to-do list, but I can certainly break that down into little work sessions with time for needle and thread.

The 'Button Tree' piece is coming along and I am hoping the two skeins of floss provided with the kit is enough to finish this.  It is a Cosmos and not a color I have in my tote.  I did find a DMC that will work in a pinch should I fall short.

And I started the NewFO project - the cross stitch kit I found.  Yes, I can work both at the same time.  They are laid out on my ironing board - this is were I like to work these - I hold by hand, no hoop - and sit on my high stool.  It just works for me - plus the furries do not go on the ironing board, so I can trust leaving them.  

Will you slow down today?

Feline Friday 12/5/14

Usually it is Moe in the box (tote, bin, mess), but Bella claims anything orange or red - must be that camouflage thing.  I pulled my storage tote of little scrap logs to finish up this project and 'POP' in she went and I could not keep her out.

I worked around her until I quess it just wasn't the same comfy spot.  A can of tuna satisfied her grumpiness - errrrr.. - majesty.  Now all 155 little logs are finished and the few odd scraps cut down into the barrels.
