Monday Making

This is my fabric pull for the border on the Round Robin.  I've had that JR 'Clementine' for over a year, so I obviously haven't found a use for it.  I will just be pulling a few strips to add to my FQs.  The left over strips will certainly get used some where along the way.

I will take a photo of the full flimsy and share once it is received back to it's original owner.

My granddaughter with her next quilt.  Hmm, I think I need to have a PJ day.  Although we have gotten very cold and I have thown the sweats back on.  I don't think I'll ever put that winter coat away this year.

And this is my daughter's quilt.  I've warned her that the 'to be quilted' pile will grow very fast.  She decided on the Baby Lock JazzII machine and is waiting for delivery - and we all know how slow that is now.

A Difference A Few Days Make

I have been wrapped up in finishing that one quilt which is now ready to go in the wash and then the dryer.  So I will share what little is flowering due to our late start to Summer.

Spring sees Yellow, Red and White with the early flowers - tulips, daffs, and a few crocus.  This is my White Garden during Summer - and I need to weed.

This is actually called an Anniversary Silver Rose, but really a bright white.  I bought this for my Mom for Mother's Day several years ago and this year it is in full spendor - and about 8ft high!

And hidden in the mix are some tiny red roses.  These are little indoor plants that were gifted to Mom be various people and I set them outside - this is the first year any have flowered outside.

The Lavender is taking a good hold and loaded with blossoms ready to pop.

The roses by my porch have not flowered in probably 20 years because the deer chew them right down at their tender stage of growth.  They've left them alone this year and I have loads of blossoms.

This is a 200 yr. + rose bush that puts out such an amazing show and aroma each year.

Well a few days of warmth and sunshine made for a lot of changes!!!

The white roses are everywhere!  And there are a couple of Hollyhocks starting to spout in the mix as well.

I'm finding more little red (and even an orange) roses peeking out.

As the Lavender opens more and more I can even catch the scent in the house.

Yes, explosion!  There is one on each side of the stairs and you have to be aware of all the bees right now as you go up and down

.
And the old gal is getting into it's glory.  The rose and lavender scent thru the yard is astounding right now.  I don't pick any of these - I just have to open a window to have the delightful scent waft thru the house.

Once their season ends - a bit of pruning and clean up gives the next round of flowers their chance to shine - yellows, oranges, and purple grow well into the Fall.

I received a Round Robin for the next 'round' which happens to be the final (and largest) border.  ANd you all know how I feel about borders.  I won't be able to show this as I think the person reads my blog and I don't want to spoil the reveal.

Scrappy Wednesday

I'm still quilting and no piecing, but I want to share our local guild's Tuesday Social in the Park.  It has been 100 days since our last meeting and we planned a fun get together at a local park - and took in our charity drive quilts.  It was so fun to lay them all out along the once hillside.

We had a lovely backdrop of color and quilty goodness while we ate our 'brought from home' lunches and caught up on what everyone was doing.  Just a note - the large scrappy quilt was donated by a non-member.  One of our members picked up some packaged pre-cuts during our guild swap meeting for her to use.  Annie is (no I won't tell) old?  and she did this all by hand - piecing to tied finish to the old style bring the backing to the front for the binding.  How sweet of her to pay it forward - again.

Love the icecream shop (Windham panel) and added icecream cones and banana split.  The tropical panel at the top is a 3-D and you need the special 'movie' glasses to get the affect.  Oh, my - it jumped right out at you!

Members were noticing fabrics they had donated at our guild swap night - others had used them to make their donation quilt(s) with.  We all loved the stripe patchwork set on the smokey black.

And more - I didn't get all as just then someone came with two very large dogs not leashed and they of course, ran right thru the quilts.  Thus, we did a pick up and asked that they please use the leashes in their hands.

Some of the crew - yes, we have some Roosters in our guild.  Some went to walk the paths thru the park and find some great spots for quilt photo ops. ANd because I didn't get the camera out until the end - I didn't catch some of our members' grandkids who came and did some show & tell of their own.

Some more members catching up before we headed out - they were watching those dogs tearing thru the park.  This park is on the lower embackment of the old section of the cemetary of the Old Stone Fort; hence you see one of the markers.

It was a beautiful day and so nice to be able to get back to gether as a group.  No formal business meeting - just a lovely social time.  We normally break thru July and August, but they liked this so much that we plan another (different) park meeting for July.  Maybe August will see our County in it's last Phase back to normal.

Monday Making

I'll be linking up with BETH with her encouragement to do some 'making' on Mondays.  She has a very cute I Spy going as well as some other great projects linked up that may inspire.

With a little help (or hinderance), I'll be working on quilting the Crazy For Red .

And the little Princess fiished her quilt with the scrappy  squares I sent her.  She's asking for her own sewing machine and wants to come 'sew with the ladies'- guess we have her hooked.
