Whooping Friday 4/7/17

I'm a little late to the pary with SARAH. but the day got away from me with errands, sick cat, and waiting on a delivery.  I did get my RSC17 piggies done.  Working odd grays because I need to tame those grays.

The 'Temecula Quilt CO' geese units got made along with the plaid patches.  I've been keeping these little blocks together in a container, but soon I will have to put them into their own totes as they are growing in counts - but only about half way there.

Gurtrude is 'dressed', but she may wait a while for finishing because there are some higher priorities on the board.

The newest Solstice block went together pretty easy and I just used some of the left over scraps from others.  I am ready to wrap this one up.  I started to put 'sections' together with Pat's diagram, but I am suddenly missing my black/grey patchwork pieces.  And as I go thru areas of shelving and storage I find I am missing other items.  I think I have someone 'grazing' my stash again.

My delivery - WHOOP!!  The long arm arrived this afternoon after several re-routings due to all the tremondous storm areas.  My brother and SIL helped me set up the frame, but it is missing a part.  I contacted the person I bought it off of and she is hunting, but thinks she used it without (she bought is used herself).  So either a new one will have to be ordered or my bro can make one.

And my sick kittie - Bella.  She went back today for further tests and x-rays.  They had to sedate her, so she was there all day for monitoring.  My furkid has allergies which are worsening and now diagnosed with asthma.  Daily medications are on order - that should be fun as she is horrible to give pills to.  Hopefully this will help or my poor furry will use up her 9th life in her 9th year.

We are still on flood alert thru the weekend, but it is suppose to warm up and dry out over the next week - we all hope!!

Scrap Wednesday

Confessions Of A Fabric Addict

I am enjoying using my scraps in most of my projects.  I have a lot of areas that need taming and I may have to go further than just a few blocks at a time, but right now this is working and making me happy.

My only RSC17 project this year are these cute piggies.  This month is multi-color or those really odd fabrics that don't fit a catagory.  Since I am trying to pull those fun pieces in their color, I was thrilled when I saw a few people were going with the idea of using gray.  Now I have a lot of gray and no way is the Solstice quilt (and the next block will be out) going to use those scraps up.  So I will dig for those grays with some color/design in them for my next 4 piggies.

Even though the 30's strips started out as a fresh Jelly Roll, they are technically scraps now.  I could cut into some fresh FQs to make all the HSTs I need for Grandmother's Baskets, but I want to use these up rather than stash them away.  Once they are gone, then I will look at those FQs or find some more hidden 30's in other locations until I have my full count.

My Civil War scraps are ready for digging thru for more geese as well as the plaids for that other project.

This is the year of letting goals 'go' and just enjoying, but I am staying on track with the monthly Bag Ladies.  Our new gal is 'Gertrude'.  I was a little put off that there was a bra in the bag with the flag - that I don't get.  I will get creative and either cover that with some fabric or lace.  I'm am seeing Gertrude as more of a patriotic madam rather than a losey-goosey (and that's a duck).

I would like to get my black bear further along (borders) and ready for quilting.  And my Leap Year quilt basted out so I can start hand quilting.

Today is Moe's turn to visit the Vet for his annual shots.  Mr Moe Macho cries like a baby the whole way in the car and thankfully it is just a mile up the road!  Then maybe in the afternoon my brother can come down and we can start getting to work on the frame - the room is ready.

We are on flood alert thru Saturday - not a word you want to hear in this area.  All these April Showers better bring lots of flowers.

Monday Making 4/3/17

Grab button Monday Making

I will be joining BETH and others with some Monday creativity.  And you really want to visit her as she has those fun 'H' blocks laid out - scrappy goodness!!  I have half of mine done, but I have something else that needs some play time.

I want to get a start on all those HSTs for the Grandmother's Baskets sashings.  Since I have a lot of left over strips, I will use the Easy Angle ruler to make them.

And some of you asked about Bella.  She hates the camera and knows that sound of it being clicked on - runs!!  I caught her for a bit before she got away.  She has her annual shots with the Vet today - and some tests on a cough she has.  You won't see her for a while again; and probably not me either because she can hold a grudge.  Both furkids love their Vet, but hate riding in the car.  Luckily it is only a mile up the road.

Slow Sunday Stitching

Slow Sunday Stitching

I will be joining Kathy and others today with some slow stitching.  I have become quite fond of taking a day (or more) to just enjoy that needle and thread in hand.  Still not a fan of hand quilting, but you never know what may become a journey.

I am re-doing the star on my Yankee Diary block.  I had originally used the facing method, but didn't like how it looked.  So I took it apart and now have half of it done needle turn.  This should work up quickly - as long as I can keep a fat furkid off it.

Then there is the last rossette that needs it's last round.  I know how I am going to finish this one off, but it will wait it's turn as the Grandmother's Baskets is ahead of the line.

And I have been moving furniture and cleaning rooms to finally set up that quilting frame - because this is on it's way here.

Not a bells and whistle machine, but it will fit my frame without updates and suit my needs for quilting.  I joined a TL group as well as a couple of my guild members have Tin Lizzies.

The sun is suppose to shine and we will get into the 50's - there will definitely be a walk today, too.
