October Christmas QAL Weekend
This month's Christmas QAL weekend is being hosted by Joanna of Needle Thread Happiness. That day is fast approaching - do you have a project? Join us for the whole weekend or even just one day or even a couple of hours.
I'll be embellishing my challenge piece.
And I like to work on multiple projects, so I have these bits of scraps ready for a little project that was presented at our quilt guild meeting.
I will be stepping out for a little bit at some point as our LQS has another 'adopt a bolt' sale this weekend (25% off if you take the rest of the bolt)- yes, I'm shopping on my 'no-more-fabric' diet. But I've cleared two shelves, so I need to fill them - and I need backing!

I will be updating on the same page thru the weekend
UPDATE
Some of my embellishing supplies - had to put the beads, buttons and metallic threads on the ironing board (kitties) and more is on the side table - this is going to take a while.......
And I made my trip to the LQS sale. What I am going to do with that wild rams fabric - hey, that half yard looked lonely. Benartex, RJR, Red Rooster, Moda, Windham, Andover, (EEEKKK) Ro Gregg and Nancy Halvorsen!!!!
My sewing machine was feeling left out, so I quickly whipped up these log cabin blocks from those scraps. That pin dot isn't really that bright and I need to clean the glue off my cutting mat (SIL).

Prove Your A Quilter
Well, I had to think real hard on this one - Lily Pad Quilting has a wonderful idea of linking up a photo of your quilts around the house that proves you are a quilter. Well, I work on a lot of quilts and would you believe, I have only ONE quilt that is always out on the couch. I have 3 areas that I rotate displays of swap items, but only this one quilt I made for me. Well, it actually was my old cat's quilt - he loved this quilt and always slept on it, so here it stays.
BUT I DO HAVE QUILTS - in our home shop - they are in my home - it counts - doesn't it??
Yes, it's a mess that really needs some straightening out - and some Fall decorations added. AND there is more in totes - items for next month's vending season - and Christmas items that will come out later.
I will be linking up with Lily Pad Quilting and hope you share your 'Prove Your A Quilter' photos.

Sharon

This---That
I can share one of my projects. This is 'Nabby's Dowry' - a quilt along with Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts. Rather than adding a border, I made my setting triangles larger so it floated the design.
A lot of stitch in the ditch, each surround block had a little button added to the centers, and then a few echo rows around the piece.

And now about this lovely fabric - a lot of you OOOO'ed and AAAAAA'd and wanted to see what I was making with it. Wellllllllllllllllll
I'm not playing with it, but two of my followers will get to. These are twice the charm - 22 strips that are 5.5" wide - of "Tyler" by Yoko Hasegawa for RJR fabrics. My blogaversary is Oct 16th (I have a blog hop give away coming up and I don't want things getting confusing) so I am opening up comments for this give away and will announce the winners on the 16th. One roll is for my USA folks and the other roll is for all the Out-of-States followers. Just let me know where you are from and be sure I have a way to contact you.
Now, time to clean my machine, put in a new needle, and pedal to the metal all day!!

Secrets
It must be that time of the year where everyone is starting to sew those secret projects. We get very quiet, nothing is reported, nothing is updated, and you wonder where everyone went.
My border fabric for the commission quilt arrived, borders got added, binding is made and waiting - the quilt is in the hands of the longarmer as my Fair Lady just does not like to FMQ with poly batt.
It's no secret that Sew We Quilt has a new blog button to express the purpose of the blog. I have signed up for the Wicked and For the Boys Hops and am secretly working on projects for both. Yes, that was a plural.
And you will have to come back on Wednesday to see what the secret is all about with these lovelies. (photo used from Missouri Quilt Co as that is where I purchased them)
Well, back to my secret sewing - need to keep everything on schedule.
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon
