Finishing RSC19

Moe decided it was more comfy to lay on my project rather than the guest bed.  I think he really just wanted to be close by today as Bella has been rather mean to him of late.  So I changed gears -

I've got a few RSC19 (Rainbow Scrap Challenge) projects that really should be pulled together.  This is the Chandelier Bead Blocks set with the black.  I'm really crossing fingers and toes that I have enough Kona black left to make those setting triangles.  I know I can get more, but the idea is to use it up!

I love the RSC, but I struggle with making monthly blocks as I want to get it done.  Next year I think I will use the monthly color to make a single project.  Scraps used up and instant gratification instead of a possible UFO (I have plenty of those).

I don't party for New Years - home with the furkids and Mom.  I just might get this one done for the last finish of the year.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

I'm with you on the one block a month thing. I get bored with it and forget about it when it stretches out that far. I'll be staying home with my dad and dog for the new year - safer that way!!

I agree about making multiple blocks each month--one is the way to go. Otherwise, too much stress for me...
We will be having a quiet New Year's Eve also...just we two...hugs, Julierose

One year I used the monthly color to pull out a UFO to finish. That was the year of the 2-color combo and I was surprised how many UFOs I had that met the challenge. Anyway, it turned out to be a VERY productive year for me so I've decided to do the same thing again in 2020.

I love that quilt. I’m really a great fan of black with lots of color. Must be my Amish ancestry peeking through. You’ve given me an idea about RSC. I’m not starting anything new next year unless I can finish it in the month I’m in. I still miss joining in the color of the month. Maybe a mini...like really tiny. I love those itty bitty quilts, and I never have time in a month to make one. As I’m finishing up the older projects, I could get a little taste of something new with one of the tiny quilts.

I have a lot of unfinished RSCs, sew alongs, and mysteries (blocks are all done, tops not put together), so I think 2020 will be used to complete some of these projects and get them out of here. We gave up the New Year's Eve celebration years ago. We get together with some quilter friends for brunch on New Year's Day instead. Much more civilized and everyone stays awake.

I rarely use solid black in a quilt (can't think of one instance), but I love how it looks with bright colors. Using black in a quilt should be my 2020 goal. How is your mom doing?

That sounds like a good way to do the RSC!

Moe, sorry you are having a bad time with Bella! :)

I've been considering the same thing as you for next year's RSC!! A single project per color, as I've grown out of love with making blocks each month. Goodness knows there are enough scraps!

The Chandelier Bead Blocks are stunning with the black backing. It really makes those colors pop. I totally get not starting another monthly project and working on a finished project in that color. Great idea for the RSC. Happy new year!

I love finding out what the new color of the month is but I have failed miserably this year do to health issues. It's true that I ended up with a lot of blocks and no quilt finished. Since this past June, I've been concentrating on one quilt. I hope to continue next year with one project at a time. I'm not very good at multi-tasking anymore. Hope you have a great new year where you will see many of your quilts get finished. ;^)

Ah Moe, hope he and Bella are getting on a little better. Love how he has plonked in the middle of your current project. Love the Chandelier blocks, they will make a beautiful quilt. Quiet NYE here for us too. (Although we have neighbours for the holidays who insist on setting off fireworks every night up until the day!)

My daughter has a male and a female kitty. Penny constantly picks on poor Jake. Must be a girl kitty thing? Your chanelier blocks are beautiful and will make a very pretty quilt. See you in RSC2020!

Aw poor Moe. Love those chandelier blocks. Some of my rsc projects will be multiyear efforts too but that's ok.

I like your Chandelier Bead Blocks which are going to be wonderful in a quilt. Especially the dark background which makes the beads shine.
