I would like to thank CARLA for hosting this brillant Hop and look forward to seeing what everyone has to share with us. With it starting just after Summer Solstice ( or maybe you're in Winter Solstice and need a warm up) it is a great way to welcome in the summer season.
I had this image in my files for a long time with the thoughts of painting a quilt block to hang on my porch. It is called SunBurst Blossom and reminds me of the many fields of day lilies that are around the farm used for naturalization of an area not suitable for anything else. Day lilies always pop out upon the first few hot, humid days of Summer.
I had to really dig thru my scraps to find bright sun shiney yellows. A couple of the vintage calico units are actually 'made' fabric, but it all worked out. I put corner hangers so this could be used as either a wall hanging or .......
a table topper. I don't have side tables or a coffee table. When I tried to set up a nice photo shoot on my kitchen table - I had to furkids thinking this was a wonderful new 'bed'. So it's out on the lawn for an in the sunshine photo with one of my great grandmother's favorite pieces that she brought out for the summer to fill with wild flowers of all kinds.

That's lovely Sharon!
I love this table topper! I think I have that same vintage print in orange.
Beautiful piece.so sunshiny and cheerful
Your piece is so, so, so lovely! It really made me smile!
Such a lovely quilt! The yellows are perfect and remind me of the lemon lilies that are blooming at my house right now.
It's sweet. And yes the block would make a great barn quilt.
Really beautiful
Love this 💛
This is really beautiful! So fresh and summery!
What a great block choice for this sunny hop. It does make a wonderful topper. I hope you are still considering painting one too. It would be just stunning.
Lovely block and I love the colors! I like the idea of corner hangers to use as a wall hanging or a table topper.
Gorgeous quilt,, love it!
Very nice.
That's a pretty design! I love the yellows you found for the sunflower-y parts!
This is a beautiful quilt design and I love the fabrics you chose. That setting is so sweet with the water can. Thank you for sharing...you never disappoint with your creations!
Bright and cheerful and lovely.
That is absolutely gorgeous. I had to laugh about photo shoot troubles with your fur babies. LOL!! Some days we fight the same fight around here. That would make an awesome barn/porch quilt pattern too!
What a wonderful sunny quilt. And so many of my quilt photos have a kitty foot or tail or nose in them that I understand having to retreat outside for the photo op. :) The quilt looks perfect on the grass.
The first of our daylilies (Stella D'oro) opened this week. They are as bright and sunny as your tabletopper. It's a perfect little quilt for summer. We don't have enough room for a field of daylilies, it must be a beautiful sight.
Your block is stunning, and you found just the right colors.
SEW super cute, Sharon (and perfect for the Hop!!) You are lucky to have your great grandmother's watering can. What a treasure!
What's better than a brand new table topper for the summer parties? Lovely.
That is so pretty! I love that binding.
Love this - so pretty
Lovely wall hanging! Love the colors you chose. The black accent fabric and borders really made these sunny colors pop. Beautiful!!
That definitely say Sunshine. Your grandmother's jug looks so pretty sitting on the side.
Beautiful and classic. I love your photo setting also.
Sharon - your sunshine topper is very pretty! Love the photo with the flower container!
So sunny and happy! It will make a great wall hanging!
Gorgeous wall hanging/table topper. Those calicoes are so pretty.
Wonderful tabletopper. I, like you, don't have a lot of yellow. Sunburst Blossom is a lovely block/pattern. Thanks for hopping!
Only thing missing in the last picture is the wild flowers. Great quilt - I'd love it on my table. Thanks, Sharon.
This is such a pretty piece. Thank you for brightening my day!
This is a lovely table topper.
That's beautiful...xox
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing!
That's really pretty. I love the design of the blocks.
Cute wallhanging Sharon, the colors are fun and the design is lovely. Loved how the little furbabies got in the way when trying to take photos, now that we have a small dog, if I put something on the floor to take a picture she comes and lays right on top of it to so I know how that goes myself. :) Still it's fun to see how they take to the projects.
Beautiful! So happy and sunshiny!
Your table topper makes me smile! Thank you for sharing.
Love your happy summer solstice quilt!
That is so perfect and happy! Cat's always think any quilt is a new bed for them :)
I really like this block, Sharon. The colors are great. It WOULD make a fantastic barn quilt.
Beautiful quilt, and the jug is very special.
