A VERY 'Blonde' Day

Have you ever had one of those days?  You know, where nothing is going quite right.  It seemed like everything I tried to do, ended up wrong or on the floor.  When I couldn't even pick up pins without sending them flying across the room, I really knew NOT to touch that rotary cutter like planned.  (I did get some of the cleaning and clearing done without injury to self or furkids)

Since I kept knocking this particular tote off the shelf (because it was so over stuffed and not really sitting on the shelf just right), I figured I better really take care of it.  This is my string  tote.  Yeah, there is a tote under that pile - somewhere.

I pulled out one of the 100 old phone books (well, not that many) and started to piece those strings.  NO pins, NO rotary, NO heavy thinking needed!  Just my little snips (which did get dropped on the floor a few times) and a few bobbins wound - OFF WE WENT.  I got 30 ready for their corners - tomorrow.  They will be trimmed down to 6.5" - when I can trust myself with that rotary cutter.

There's the tote!  Down to the low volumn stuff - a good base for new blocks when that gets over-stuffed again.

The trip to the Vet at least was uneventful.  Moe did cry like a baby the trip there and home -  luckily it is only a mile up the road.  He didn't try any escapes as there were a lot of woofies - noisy woofies - big woofies.  He decided to sit in my lap while in the room - Mom protecting him.  All was good and quick (the Vet was amazed at how big his teeth and claws are) and home we went.

Today may be another NO rotary day, too

Sharon

good idea to play with strings instead.

Must have been something in the stars yesterday, my day went down hill fast and I never got near any fabric or sharp things.

Some days are just like that. Good thing you listened to yourself and stayed away from the rotary cutter.

Yeah, I've had those no rotary days, too. If I'm lucky, I realize it's that kind of day *before* I injure myself...
Love your string blocks!

I know the feeling. Some days I think I spend more time ripping out than sewing. I love no brainier sewing and strings are great for that. I hope today is better.

You were so productive to clear out those strings. My plan usually go awry as I am just a plan ole klutz!

Lucky for me that I wasn't having 'one of those days' yesterday as I did nothing but cut strips to get ready for a quilt retreat this weekend. I will be working on my first Hands2Help project and a baby quilt for our neighbor's first granddaughter. I'm sure you'll find plenty to do without touching the rotary cutter until the clumsiness phase passes.

I think we have all had those days, Sharon. Wise idea to avoid the rotary cutter.

I've had those days before, too many of them. At least you got to do some sewing.

Yes, I've definitely had those days. Some days I can't seem to sew a straight line to save my soul and every stitch I sew gets taken out. That's when it's time to do something else.

Glad the day ended with all fingers and toes intact.

Ohhhh....those blonde days are tough. I've had my share which usually end up with a trip to the ER. (Ok, there have only been two of those and that is enough!)

Glad to hear the vet visit went well. They should be good for another year, right?

Glad to hear there were no major incidents! Love your string blocks, I hope to make some soon. Congratulations on your class going so well. I bet Moe was glad to get home!

Looks like you made the most of your "blonde" day. I hate it when it's my turn for that kind of day.
