Daisy Bell
Daisy Bell" is a popular song with the well-known lyrics "Daisy, Daisy/Give me your answer do/I'm half crazy/all for the love of you" was composed by Harry Dacre in 1892. The Daisy is the April birth flower - bringer of good fortune and blissful pleasure. It is thought that the name "daisy" is a corruption of "day's eye", because the whole head closes at night and opens in the morning.
Looking like a daisy? I finished my Dresden Plate Block for our quilt guild charity project. I was proud to finally get a 'circle' appliqued correctly. I have been following closely Teresa's tutorials over at Fabric Therapy.
And with flowers emerging - they draw the beautiful butterflies. I just joined a 6.5" block swap and my partner wants butterflies in Batiks on white background. The pattern is from Marcia Hohn's 'QuiltersCache" and worked up quickly. I'll get these out in the mail tomorrow morning.
And I finished my bag for the Quilter's Gallery Quilted Bag Swap. I have a lot of goodies inside, but they are surprises just incase she reads my blog. I sneaked around her blog and got some ideas of what she liked and needed. This will go out in the morning mail too.
And I have actually spent a lot of time on my couch. I got lucky and somehow caught the stomach flu. I spent the time with this quilt over me and finished the binding. My little furry queen even approved, as she loved to curl up with me every time I was a little down for the count. It's a wonder neither of us was stuck with pins or needle. I even did a little embroidery and some cross stitch while layed up.
MAY FOR ME
Are you still looking for your May projects? Are you getting them ready? Have you been checking with the other bloggers for tips? (click that button on the side bar) I treated a little ME time today with my SIL - we went and had our hair washed, trimmed and styled at the local salon. I really needed a pick me up.
Another idea for a special ME time treat - a basket of 'pretty feet' items. We spend a lot of time on our feet, they need a little pampering. Have a teenager or even a pre-teen girl? Include them in your little 'pretty feet', get some giggles, conversation, share a movie. You get your time as well as some quality time with them.
APRIL IS POETRY MONTH
At evening when I go to bed
I see the stars shine overhead;
They are the little daisies white
That dot the meadow of the Night.
And often while I'm dreaming so,
Across the sky the Moon will go;
It is a lady, sweet and fair,
Who comes to gather daisies there.
For, when at morning I arise,
There's not a star left in the skies;
She's picked them all and dropped them down
Into the meadows of the town.

Congrats on your win over at button mad. I just got mine in the mail today.
your dreaden plate looks good.
and I like the poetry too..
You sure are one busy Lady..
Sorry you're not feeling well. I love the tote and the butterflies, which reminds me I have a long standing UFO that is appliqued butterflies. Maybe I should pull it out.
Your song lyrics sure brought back memories! I remember being in the 5th grade and singing that song in our end of the year program for our parents. That would have been over 50 years ago! You amaze me...putting on binding in the middle of the stomach flu. I'd have been moaning and asking for ice chips and a cool hand on my brow. :) blessings, marlene
I didn't realize that the daisy closes up every night - interesting.
The circle in your Dresden Plate block looks perfect! Congrats!!
Love the butterfly blocks. They are definitely a sign of spring.
Sorry to hear that you were down with a stomach bug. At least you had a little furry comfort machine with you.
I just fell in love with that poem!
Love the Dresden plate and the butterflies, too! My birthday is in April, so I've always loved daisies...but I didn't know about the origin of the name! Cool! I am so looking forward to May for Me! Glad you are on the mend.

Love the Poem! My Dad used to sing that song. Nice memory.
Hope you're feeling better. So many pretty things. Love, love, love the bag!! Especially with the flower on it. And the butterflies, just adorable. You need to make yourself some of those wonderful soups that you make to help feel better.
Hang in there. I hope that you get to feeling better. I love that basket. Any chance I am getting it? LOL!!!

"It won't be a stylish marriage, I can't afford a carriage." I learned that song when I was little!
Your projects are all wonderful. I especially like the butterflies!
I'm glad you were able to get out and "fancied up" for spring. Having my hair washed by someone else is a true indulgence for me. I have always thought that if I won the lottery (of course I never buy tickets), I would have my hair professionally washed whenever I felt like it.
I really love the basket tote for your swap. Those soft colors really speak to me.
You had some awesome finishes this week, Sharon! I hope you're feeling much better soon..... Whoop whoop!!
I am going to be singing that song all day in my head! Great post, I am soooo ready for a pedicure.
Hi there! I'm the receiver of your beautiful Easter bag! I love it, love it, love it!!
Is it okay if I post a picture and link to your blog?
Thank you SO much for the abundance of extra gifts. You are too kind!!
