At a Cross Road


I finished up the proto-type bag for a class I will be teaching and it went out the door today.  It will be used by that guild's program committee at their next meeting to promote sign ups for the class.  I didn't take photos of the finished bag as some members might read my blog and I didn't want to spoil things.


And these are the scraps from some pattern testing I have been doing for the lovely Bea.  Nope - can't show you this one either until she releases the pattern.


So what does one do when all things on the list are done ahead of schedule?  I organize and take stock.  This is my yardage - yardage!!  As a scrap quilter a FQ goes a long way, but I seriously need to hit an end-of-bolt sale to restock these shelves.  That big peice of muslin doesn't belong there, but it will soon be broken down into some projects coming up next month. Oh, on the top is different types of fuseables that I buy and keep by the bolt. 


These are my fun play grounds - totes of FQs.  It may not look like much fabric, but with these, those top shelves, and the fabric (specialty prints) in the rolling cart along side this shelving - I know there is probably 30 quilts right there.


This side is next year's play ground - yes, next year.  As tempting as these are, they are going to wait.  I have a lot of panels, layer cakes, jelly rolls, along with a few totes of neutrals.


There are 6 kits that have sat for at least 3 or 4 years.  Lots of plush and extra wide backs to use with these future projects.  My display board is blocking my two big rolls of batting in the corner as I have a furkid that loves to shred them.  So I have plenty of batt heading into the new year, too.

What do I work on now?  Do I start something new or do I tackle my daily lists for the next month and be super ahead of the game?  Or maybe I should just clean my house.

It looks like your sewing room is organized so play with your scraps. Maybe more postage stamp quilts.

Uh, hello! Cleaning should be wayyyyyy off the list. LOL. I say treat yourself to a new project for being ahead of schedule! BTW - my yardage stash is about as sad as yours :(

Oh my goodness, sit down and take a breath, did you actually say "maybe I should clean my house"? Start something new, it's like free time for creativity.

Anything but clean your house!!! Where's the fun in that? My motto is, When in doubt, start something new!!! Of course, that's probably why I have a million UFO's sitting on my shelves laughing at me every day LOL!!!

My goodness. You are so organized. Why not take a leisurely walk. Slowly breath in the late summer/early fall air. Drive into town and do a little shopping for yourself. Have lunch out. Maybe some ice cream, too. Visit a friend. Have a me, me, me day.

Such pretty fabric for your bag. You're so very organized. I'm half tempted to take down my design wall (since I never use it) and put shelves on that wall. Might be a better use of space. Your organization inspires me.

Forced by space constraints to keep my sewing space at least relatively organized and tidied up, I often yearn for a bigger and more expansive room to create but our home isn't going to grow like a vine so must be content with what I have and keep the "tidiness factor" as close to clean as I can. Your space looks so organized that you can find anything quickly, I bet. Good job, Sharon.

Love the way you've already got plans for next year....and that you're actually going to wait until then to start! My vote is to start something new, and stick to your daily list, and start something else new, and maybe something ELSE....but cleaning? really? isn't that supposed to be a once-a-year deal?

I would start something new as a reward for being early and caught up. thats the way I roll. of course I have a lot of "start something news" on the UFO shelf too! wish I could be as organized

You are really organized. I'd probably start something new if I was all caught up, which sadly I'm not. Cleaning house would only be a last resort and only if company was coming.

Hmmm tough choice. I say start something new as that will be fun but do it as a reward for completing one cleaning task in your house. That way you will get that done too and feel even more satisfaction from the accomplishment.
