August Goals

I think everyone will agree - boy the year is just flying by!  August already!!  Since I have gotten away from my year's goal of working just small projects, I think I will concentrate on this for August - keep it small, keep it simple, keep it fun.

2014 NewFO Challenge

I have been using the NewFO as my inspiration for the Monthly Doll Quilt Swap.  This month's theme is 'Mellow Yellow' and I have been in touch with my partner and we agreed to theme and use our own interpretation - have fun with it.

Now I have half of the doll quilt done when my SIL and I went to our LQS for an 'end of the bolt' sale.  I don't need new fabric, but I love to support our local shops.  I fell in love with this ( I only got this and 2 white on whites - see I was good).  I didn't realize what I had until I got it home to prep for washing.  See that!! Mellow Yellow - will this get worked into the quilt, how will it get worked into the quilt - you will have to wait and see.

 Never too hot to Stitch!

I will have to stay on track with my Something Old and finally get that wallhanging quilted.

This fabric just arrived Friday - took me forever to find what I wanted.  This is my Something New and will be my cuddle quilt for my new granddaughter due in September.  It's 'Lets Pretend' by Sarah Jane for Michele Miller and this print is called Mr Bear.  My daughter had (still has) a MR Bear and her colors for the nursery are pink and brown.  The pink minky matches real well, too.  I got this from Fabric.Com - they have super sales on minky and plushies!

I went thru my book shelf - so many choices, so many yelling out "dust me off and play with me"!

I won this book a long time ago with every intention of making several projects.  Once on the shelf, it became Out of Site-Out of Mind.

This is the project that I picked.  It finishes 19" x 23" - yep, love me some tiny piecing.  The heart flowers in the pattern are stitched, but I am thinking I will do some needleturn applique instead.  I do know how to do that - really.  And it will be a good project to participate with Slow Stitching Sunday.

The Rainbow Scrap Challenge is a great way to keep those scraps tamed and we are getting close to the finish on the Quilt Doodle row quilt.

I will combine the Handmade Christmas and Simply Small project again - this month is a pattern for potholders and runner.  I am just going to make sets of potholders - a fun afternoon project.

Remember to post up your quilts for 100 Quilts for Kids (linky now open) and your entry for the Pets on Quilts Show - don't have an entry, well go visit anyway (or borrow a pet and get a photo to enter). You can hop over to both by clicking on the buttons on my sidebar.

CLOSING THOUGHT

"Fairest of the months!
Ripe summer's queen
The hey-day of the year
With robes that gleam with sunny sheen
Sweet August doth appear."

Sharon those Mellow Yellow fabrics are wonderful - I love every one of them! And how perfect are those pinks for the new granddaughter. I can hardly wait to get home from my sister's to get back in my sewing room. Since I was on vacation two weeks before I came up here it's been a long time for me to be away from my machine. And I have two hops in September to get something made for! blessings, marlene

I was drooling over that 'mellow yellow' even before I saw the name. It really fits your project name.
