Bordering Snow

I want to thank all of you who have sent personal e-mails to see it I was buried in snow. OH.MY.GOSH.  Buffalo NY , you are in my thoughts and prayers.  Some of our are emergency/rescue people and equipment have gone out to assist with clean up and search.  We had a dusting that disappeared the next day.  But it is COLD!  So it is a good week to get those borders on.

This is the row quilt with Cindy at Quilt Doodle Designs.  There needs to be a lot of embellishing and quilting on this one, but truth be told - I don't think I am going to get to that this year.  I am happy to just get this to a flimsy stage and I really enjoyed participating in this quilt along.

And I got the border on the Charming Star quilt - participating with TERRY in a sew along using this pattern from Moda Bake Shop.  I think there are 4 or 5 different charm lines in this - just needed to use them up and they blended together so nicely.  The border fabric I know is a Moda, but the selvedge had been trimmed, so can't give you the name.  A nice dark charcoal with little color discs that mimic the earthy colors of the charms.  This one will have to wait on quilting too - there are 3 ahead of it - maybe a January finish.

Hope everyone is surviving the cold, stay inside and sew!

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

We only got about 6-7 inches of snow here, but that was more than enough. The cold can go away any time now! Love your charming stars top...it's beautiful! :0)

40C forecast for us tomorrow - that's over 100F. Bit hard to visualise what you folks are going through when it is that hot.
Lovely stars. I have admired them every time you showcased them Sharon.

How did you dodge that one? I've come to think of your town as a weather magnet, drink your cocoa and stay warm.

Haven't had the news on at our house and I just heard about the huge snow storm. So glad it didn't hit you. Love your two quilts you showed today. The Charming stars works so well against those darks.

Great job on both quilts! I missed out on the rows, but I do have a charming Stars put together and waiting to be quilted. Where in NY are you located?

I'm glad you aren't snowed in, that's no fun for anyone. Love the two top! I started gathering them for 3 months, then I got distracted and never started the quilt :*(

I LOVE your winter theme row quilt. I'm a sucker for row quilts and quilt alongside.
So glad the heavy snows missed you. Our NC snow was in the higher elevations. But it was very cold here.
Stay warm.

Love how your Quilt Doodle quilt turned out. I only got as far as the snowmen. It will make a nice 2015 finish. I'm also liking how your Charmed star quilt is coming along.

Both quilts are lovely, Sharon. I saw all the snow over there on the tv. I just can't imagine what it must be like to have so much snow and be buried in your house!

You finished the QDD quilt; it looks great. I like the house being in a plain background. For some reason it makes it stand out. I have to get to on finishing mine. Charming Star is another neat finish.

I concur with Dasha -- very hard to think of snow when all I can think of is heat!

Love your row by row quilt. The borders really set it off.

They both look great and while we didn't get the snow that Buffalo did last week, we sure got enough of it yesterday. Stay warm and stay safe.

As soon as I heard about all the snow in Buffalo, I googled how far away you were, so, I figured you were safe. Hey, as I was going thru some fabrics the other day (I'm trying to organize a bit) I came across some fabric that says Schohsrie on it (map fabric). I thought of you when I saw it.
