Handmade Christmas Challenge - July

2014 Christmas Handmade Pledge

I know I have been saying it each month, but now that we are into July I hope you are starting to think about those holiday projects.  Start them now so you aren't so frazzled come December - and join in the challenge.

This month's project was also my Simply Small Sewing project with A Quilting Life - a cute tablemat pattern by Sherri using 2.5" squares.  I used a charm pack of Field Notes by Blackbird Designs and cut those into 4ths so I could get four matching table mats.  I used some scrap RJR fabrics for the side sashings and binding.

And I wanted them reversable so used a Red Rooster print (2009 - yup, cleared some stash) for the back.  I think some cranberry color napkins and napkin rings will make this a nice gift set.

I was one of the month's lucky winners and got to pick from three of the wonderful Hoffman bundles (the other two go into the final give away).  I chose this lovely Christmas bundle - oh it is just sparkly!!  AND oh so pretty!  I don't want to cut into the 12 Days of Christmas fabric - would just spoil it.  So I will have to play with the complimentary pieces to make a lovely setting around that.  I did say it was sparkly right - like glittery diamond dust over it all!

You can join in any month and please go visit SewCalGal to get some Christmas project inspiration.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

love your placemats. and you are right. when Christmas comes it is nice to "shop" at home for gifting. I have a Christmas box for such things. your winning fabrics are great. I see a 12 days of Christmas quilt coming. I would cut apart each and surround them with the other great fabs for a 3 x 4 quilt.

Thanks for the reminder. This year I need to make an advent calendar for my son's family ... and as you may know, it needs to get to Oregon before the first of December.

Very nice! I like the idea of matching napkins too. Your win is pretty, I wonder if the sparkly will wash off?

The place mats turned out beautifully. Definitely a nice gift. Does anyone in your family read your blog? Does anyone drop hints about what gifts they would like for Christmas?
