Christmas Quilt Along - part 2

I have a lot of new followers so I would like to welcome you all to a 're-visit' to part of my 'Welcome to VroomansQuilts' blog post. So many people are shocked when I tell them I live on Quilt Lane - here it is folks. When 911 emergency system went into our area, we wanted Vroomans' Lane, but that already existed - so Quilt Lane.

And we had to replace the old sign (in header painting) as one too many storms (and age) took it's toll. And we almost lost this one with the flooding from Irene - it was out in the field with most of the nuts and bolts torn from it. My nephew is in Iraq and his sister is in South Korea where her husband is stationed - thus some flowers and garlands are hanging.

So take a drive up our country lane to the farm house on the hill.

There are a lot small flower gardens all around the property. Unfortunately, this time of year not a lot of things are in bloom yet.

From the header painting you get the overview of the farm on the hill. But the lane brings you into the middle and this is the back of the main house. Bricks from Holland, foundation from a quarry on the farm, it is one of the original family homesteads. My great(many greats)grandfather bought the land tract from both the Iroquois Indians as well as the Queen of England and was head of the militia at the local fort under the command of General Washington.

Hope you enjoyed the 5 cent tour,
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

Really nice. So upstate NY. And your sign is wonderful. If I get your way, it should be easy to spot.

What a great post - and I love Quilt Lane and your farmhouse! Does it really date back to 1780? Fascinating stuff!

Well worth the 5 cents. You live in such a beautiful place. What a treat and right after breakfast! I might need to just grab a bunk and stay-awhile. Hehe. Love the Quilt Lane too.

Hi Sharon I really loved hearing the history of your farm and seeing all the beautiful pictures of your home. Do you live there on your home. Murray and I have always loved travelling all over New York State. Our last trip was to Catskills. We live in Ontario in a little town called Stratford. Blessings Sandra
