Christmas Quilt Along - part 3

Well I pulled all my small labeled baggies from the big zip-lock baggy. And I just love to make HSTs so this step of the quilt will put a skip in my step today.

When I teach these, I do like Sue's instructions - the line, sew a 1/4" each side, then cut on the line. Well, to be honest, I don't work that way. I think that is a lot of steps and I am a speed sewer. So I pair up my squares, cut the diagonal, and then speed chain those puppies thru my machine - and she loves it that way. 'Oh, momma, put the pedal to the floor!' When I press and trim up, I will put them into groups of 10 - helps with the 'Senior' counting to be sure.

I have to run some in-town errands - post office, recycle center, bank, etc.... I will be posting my little fun tutorial at noon. So until then, keep those machines humming.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

I think if I cut first then sewed, I'd have some very wonky HSTs!

I just always make them this way as I find I can be really accurate. Somehow, if I cut the triangles first, someone makes them go all wibbly-wobbly before I sew them!

I like the method of taking a big square and sewing a 1/4" around all four sides, then cutting across both diagonals. And yes, I think I'd prefer your speed piecing method over the drawing and measuring and everything! Have a GREAT day, Sharon! :)
