Stella
My favorite view just off my back porch and to give you a start to Storm Stella. We were almost snow free when this rolled in around 2am.
Yes, a bit tilted as the snow was blown half way up the door and I got it open enough to stick my arm out for a shot. The furkids couldn't understand why Momma wasn't opening the door all the way for them or what was this wall of white doing there.
Toward my brother's house and getting ready to go out for the second round of shoveling.
There is a walkway from my porch to half way to this barn and then the walk runs to the big grey barn to my Mom's porch. I felt like I was shoveling 3 miles of walk!
My brother out in this awful stuff plowing constantly. And the snow coming down harder. Where did the walk go? My Mom's porch buried, again.
And it got worse - finally it was declared NO TRAFFIC and county plows were pulled off the roads (several of them went off roads) because it got impossible to see. That's when we said 'enough' - we will start again in the morning.
Trying to get out the backdoor and porch so I can start shoveling. We got 30" of snow, then high winds that just made mountains. Its was brutal out there.
We start all over again. Bits of work here, then there, eventually it was all cleared. Snow was blown pretty well off the roofs - not that I was about to clear them. But we cleared out dryer vent and other special areas - our county Emergency Website had a list of items to check - they were getting a lot of CO2 calls. There were two local dairy barns that collapsed from the weight of the snow and a church was lost to fire (heavy snow on the lines). Now we wait to see how much we get with the weekend storm.
The furkids - Bella spent most of the storm in the guest bedroom - under the bed - (she is afraid of the winds) and Moe just took comfort where ever. How he got on my ironing board (again) without knocking it over?
I hope to get out for a bit in the morning (and no not to shovel snow, but probably will have to) for a few errands. I will share my sewing time pieces tomorrow.
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

One word...BLIMEY !!! I cannot imagine that amount of snow, as in all my life wherever we have lived, have had snow ONCE. The grand 2 inches ( only just ) was so magical. Son in law laughed, as they had 12 inches and more was falling when I phoned him. Keep warm, and keep safe.
WOW Sharon you got the brunt of it. we were supposed to get 18 inches but got about 6. it turned to rain and now it is mostly gone. I was so thankful as I was worried about my roof with 18 inches of slushy stuff on it. went out twice during it to clean up. my back is yelling at me now LOL not much sewing got done on my side. cant wait to see what you worked on.
That is a lot of snow! When we get snow it is only ever a small covering which is gone in a few days but the whole country grinds to a hault!!! Stay safe and warm. Hugs, Susie x
That was brutal! You were almost buried.
We got an inch or two Sunday morning that melted before lunch. The forecast was for 3 to 5 inches but the front moved around us.
Glad to hear you and family are OK.....but not so glad for your snow saga to be so overwhelming. Good to see you are able to get out for the important things now. Stay safe.
How can you even get out to run errands? Do they clear the roads that quickly? That's way too much snow and you're expecting more this weekend? Please be careful, I can't even imagine moving when that's around you, I'd be under the bed with Bella.
Wow! You really got the short straw. You got Stella's wrath; we got a slap on the wrist. From what I can see in the first picture, you were already set for Spring. So sorry. March has such an attitude problem. ;^)
Sharon, so glad that you took it easy in the shoveling. It can be brutal getting it all cleaned up. It is a beautiful picture. Be careful out there.
Wow, that is a lot of snow! Good time to stay inside. Glad you got your vents uncovered though.
Mother nature sure has been cruel. Stay safe and warm. I hope the weekend storm isn't so bad.
That's an amazing amount of snow Sharon. Stay safe and cozy inside!
You did get it bad. There's no way to relax when storms like that occur. Hope you miss the next one.
Wow...now that's "snowed in"! The cats have exactly the right attitude about it all. Find a cozy spot and take a nap!! Stay safe and warm! :)
I'll take my snow over yours, any day. We only got a few inches, and, it's almost all melted now. My son shoveled the patio (dogs won't go out otherwise), but, that was all we shoveled. It was melted on all the paved areas within hours. Sorry you had so much snow, and so much shoveling. Stay safe.
Unbelievable!
Wow!!!
Oh my goodness! 30"! Be careful out there when you do your errands.
Dang - that was a lot of snow. I know your mom was worried but there was no way I would have shoveled 3 times - once is enough for me! Of the 20" predicted for my area we got somewhere between 6 and 12 - hard to tell as it keeps blowing around...it's still blowing but at least the sun is shining and the skies are blue :) Looking forward to seeing what you did when not shoveling!
Glad you and your little fuzzies are all okay. Your yard and mine bear a striking resemblance! It's going to be days until I can get down to my sewing studio, so I'm sitting tight with knitting and hand-stitching. It's not worth the shoveling to get to my stash and sewing machine, no matter how they call to me!
Wow....that is a lot of snow...and shoveling! I hope you won't get much more this weekend.
Oh wow! You did get dumped on! That's a lot of shoveling. Hopefully the storm this weekend will be much less of a snow maker.
And to think spring is just around the corner! I remember snow storms like that and it is the first thing I think of when my kids beg me to return to the states.
Only one small dusting this winter in Tokyo.
CRAZY!!!! What a late winter you are having!! We finally have grass again...after what, three months? Your storm seemed so fierce. Brrrrrr....
Oh my goodness that's a lot of snow!!
Come on spring....
Wow, that's a lot of snow! We got about 4-5 inches before the ice stared, then 4 inches of ice. It was no go with the snow blower. just chop, chop shovel!
