Whooping Up Friday

I made the one hour fabric basket using up some old Tula Pink fabric from the shelf and an old  fat quarter (probably from JoAnn's) for the lining.  This did take me longer than an hour as I had trouble getting my fuseable batt and fuseable interfacing (I used Pellon heavy weight as I thought the basket was too 'floppy' with just batt) to fuse.  I ended up using some spray baste - I think it was the heavy humidity that day that gave me such grief.

Although this quilt was done in June,  I am considering this quilt a finish for July because I didn't get the label on until the 4th of July weekend.  And that is the heat, humidity, and rain in the background.

Framing or boxing up charms makes a quick quilt.  And I had fun quilting this.

A lot of straight line quilting with color.  Playing with my color thread is as much fun as playing with all the color fabric.

I'll be linking up with Whoop Whoop Friday with Sarah - go check out what everyone else is dancing about.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

Framing Charms is gorgeous! Your quilting really pops with the coloured threads that you used. Wow!

The charm quilt is awesome. I like the contrast of white and black which makes the charms pop.

That charm quilt is wonderful, I love the splashes of color in the black and white. It seems that everyone takes more than an hour to make the one hour basket, it's still really cute.

I love the boxed charm quilt, such a care-free design but so pretty! I'd never have thought to use different colored threads for quilting, it fits the quilt perfectly.

I love the charm quilt. The colored threads make for great quilt lines too. Cute little basket too.

I remember making using those patterns to make a skirt in two hours, a dress in four hours, a jacket in five hours. Oh my. I would be sewing into the night or the whole week end. It was a joke at my house.
Cut little basket. That link is a link in my favorites computer file.
Congratulations on a quilty finish. Love the colorful straight line quilting. Will probably steal that idea from you, too.

Love the quilting and that binding is pretty spiffy, too!
I'm going to give that basket a try one of these days soon.

It always amazes me how pretty quilts made with simple blocks can look. I love the narrow line quilting with the different colored threads. It really makes the back interesting.

Good job on the basket. I love that quilt pattern. I have done it several times with novelty fabrics for shower gifts and have never been disappointed. I like the black framing.

Nice finishes, Sharon! I ended up using heavyweight fusible on the lining of the basket, and batting quilted to the outside of the basket. Also put batting in the handle to make it sturdier.

Framing charms is such a great idea! I need quick quilt ideas if I am going to get one made for all of my grandchildren. I love the colorful quilting on your quilt.

What a great finish! Love the straight line quilting too! Is that variegated thread or different threads?

I love using variegated thread, since the colors change as I stitch. Lots of fun that way. I've made some of the 1 hr baskets, but, I didn't use any fusible, I used prequilted fabric on the outside, instead. Mine is pretty stable, and gets more stable with stuff inside it. I like that lining fabric you used.
