Feline Friday & A Finish

I added some new pieces to my mantel decor - the closest things to my fur babies.  Bella - my red tabby Queen - and Moe - my laid-back tuxedo.  And why my big tree is in the Quilt Shop instead of in my livingroom or they would be as tangled in lights as these cuties.

Bella just had to try out that huge present hiding under the teddie table clothe - and nibble at a few bits of curling ribbon as well. **since people have asked - I looked it up as this was a gift - the reindeer banner is a Cleo & Me Co pattern found HERE **

And surprise, Moe had to try the same thing - look at those eyes!  He's the reason there are no fancy bows on any packages - totally gone!!

I made this quilt top last year after completing the Mystery Quilt designed by Sue for the 2011 Christmas Quilt Along.  I FINALLY got it sent to my longarmer for quilting.  This is a free PDF pattern from Moda called 'Gift Boxes' designed by Kate Spain for her 'Flurry' line.

I used scraps and the background was a piece given me by a sewing student - a cream with gold print Holly leaves thru it.  The back was another 'gifted' fabric and I had my longarmer do a simple large meander with a gold high sheen thread.  Augh - I saved the salvedge to remember the line and I just passed my bag of salvedges to a student I save them for - I think it is a Sandy Gervais.  It reminds me of ribbon candy.

I will be linking up with Feline Friday - Sarah's Whoop-Whoop Friday - Cheryl's One Week of Christmas (you should check this out - so should have put this on the side bar)

Happy Holidays
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

What a beautiful quilt! Love that pattern and you chose a great mix of fabrics for it. One of our cats used to chew all of the hanging strings on our ornaments, it does seem like each has their own "thing"!

Sharon, such a festive post! Your stitcheries banner looks lovely...I did them as well but made a couple of runners instead because I don't have a mantle...they look gorgeous on your mantle! Also love the reindeer and your gift quilt is stunning! Thanks for sharing your treasures...your little felines look very comfortable in your home!

Yup the bows never lasted when we had a fur baby in the house. We used to actually save them from packages and give them to her to nibble on all year long. Love your package quilt. It is so perfect for the season.

How funny that both cats tried the exact same post! You can't stage that sort of thing -- at least not with cats! Your little presents quilt is really darling!! :)

I love your quilts. I stopped putting bows, tinsel, etc. out a long time ago because of my fur babies! LOL

I love the gifts quilt! Yes, we can't have tinsel on the trees or fancy bows on presents under them because of the silly cats. :)
