May For Me - Day 21

This weeks challenge for Clover & Violet's Summertime Adventures was childrens' toys. I found this cute tutorial at Just Another HangUp for a rice filled 'boo-boo' ice pack. I changed them into a version of 'Angry Birds' bean bags to take to my grandson's up coming 5th Birthday party. Being there will be little ones from 2-5 yrs. old (most throw backwards), I filled them half with fiberfill and half cup of plastic 'doll' pellets. I put them in a cup while filling to catch any loose pellets. Then put a bit of fiber fill to hold pellets while I stitched the opening closed. Made a little mesh bag to hold those birds when not in play and I drug out my old hula hoop - Yes, still have it. Now they can play a safe game of tossing the birds into the hula hoop.

BINGO CALL WORDS

I - BOWLING PIN(S)
G - BADGE(S)
I - GRAPE(S)
O - BUNNY or RABBIT or BUNNY RABBIT
O - FARM
B - BALLOON(S)
I - DEVIL
N - WHALE
O - TIGER
O - FISH

If you get a BINGO contact Tonya at Hillbilly Handiworks.
Some of you are getting discouraged - Don't - I gave up on a quilt bingo once and had I stayed with it, I would have had the 'black-out' and grand prize.

***PLEASE*** CHECK THE PRIZE/WINNER PAGES ON TONYA'S AND MARCIA'S BLOGS - THERE ARE BINGOS THAT HAVE BEEN COMPLETED/WON AND THEREFORE DONE - ONLY CALL A BINGO FOR THOSE STILL OPEN THANK YOU***

Hi Sharon,
Since I am not really familiar with any of the cool designers, I think I would like to spend quality time with Tonya, Marcia, Snoodles and YOU. Each of you have a unique style and strength, and I could use help in all those areas. :) Not to mention it would be so much fun to hang out with you girls.

Thanks for all you do Ladybug!!

wow!! I'd love to have Bonnie Hunter ... she is amazing! and I love scrap quilts :) thanks.

I would have to say Heather Bailey, she is the first designer to really ignite my passion for "designer fabrics." Before that, I just bought the cheap stuff from wherever I could get it.

Happy Birthday! And thanks for offering such a generous giveaway. I have several books by Ruth McDowell and her work is just amazing! It seems like something I don't have the skills to do, but maybe if she tutored me personally...that would be fantastic.

I love your amazing works.
I would love to have you at my home to show me the way to make a beautiful quilt. :)

Happy Birthday! Thanks for the giveaway! I'd choose Judy Niemeyer as my personal instructor because I love her designs!

First of all the bean bgs are really adorable.

2ndly Happy Birthday a bit early! This is a mega huge birthday week in this family too. My brother turned 51 yesterday, my hubby's birthday is tomorrow the 22nd and my Mom's is Thursday the 24th. While she was still alive, we also had another to celebrate this week as one Gram's birthday was on the 27th. So May is quite gift and cake heavy for me. I hope you enjoy your celebration week.

Lastly I'd love to meet Amanda Murphy in person. I so love her patterns, her fabrics and her style.

It would have to be Rachael at Stiched in Colou, I think we would have fun playing in my scrap buckets! :o) Happy Birthday to you, may it be a very special WEEK :o) hugs

I would love to have Weeks Ringle or Bill Kerr visit--or both! They have such interesting things to share about color theory, contemporary design, and use of fabrics. It would be a treat. Happy Birthday....have a great week!

Wow fabulous giveaway Sharon. Not really sure who I would pick, may be Amanda Murphy as I like her patterns. Happy Birthday for Wednesday.

Marcia W. said...

Bonnie Hunter too (I'm listing a different teacher on each blog) - after all she was the Number One people's choice on the sewcalgal organized contest.

VickiT said...

I hope you have an amazing birthday week and a great birthday on Wednesday!

Since you asked the same question as the last blog I was on, my answer is still the same. Hopefully I'm ok giving you the same answer here. And since you asked 'designer or teacher' it still applies since she is a teacher and an awesome one at that.

If I were to have any one designer or teacher it would be Eleanor Burns. I can't imagine anyone as down to Earth as she is with as much quilting knowledge in her head. I think it would be an amazing day because she is so awesome and the very first one I watched years ago that gave me the first interest into quilting. I never did much with that interest until two years ago other than buying one of her books years back "Christmas at Bear's Paw Ranch" but she put that little spark into my head for sure. And she appears to have the patience one would need to help me with the things I don't understand and could probably give me the help I need to overcome the stupid things that confuse me - math being the top one there. LOL

I would love to sit down with Amy Butler. Her fabrics are gorgeous and I love her bag patterns. I would love to sit with her and learn, preferably in her studio so I could be around all of her fabrics and see how she works!

I am new enough to not know names of who people are (that and I suck with names) but I would just love some one to come and teach me some FMQ on my machine and help me figure it out and get good at it.

One last though the fish was also called today by crafty sewing.

I would love to have Angela Walters come by and give me insight on what to quilt on a quilt. (Does that even make sense?) Her work is amazing and it really takes a quilt top to that next level.

Happy Birthday, Sharon! Thanks for including us in your wonderful celebration!!!

Love the Angry Birds bean bag game you put together!
I have several but I can narrow it down to two. Sorry. Wanda Hanson could teach me lots about color. I need help there! Bonnie Hunter could show me how to use up my scraps to make beautiful quilts.

Kat said...

Happy Birthday week! I love your little birdie bean bag game. My daughter's 6th birthday party is next month -- that would make a fun game at her party.

Definitely Bonnie Hunter for me, too.

Mary said...

I would love to have Bonnie Hunter also. I tried to convince my DH to let me spend the $$ for the Quiltmaker Retreat in VA this August. There are even more name dropper designers going there to teach. I hope to get to Sisters, Oregon and at least meet her this year, that is the 2nd week of July! Come on over...
Thanks for adding one more button for me today. I'm headed for the Black-out.

Mary said...

I forgot to add my WHY! Because I'm a Name Dropper, an empty nester and I'm spoiled. I've been to Sisters once before.

Snoodles said...

I don't know if I'm allowed to be in the giveaway, but I just had to comment on the game you made! Great idea! I like especially that you supplemented the pellets with some fiber fill, in case the bag goes astray and impacts a small fry! Love it! (And I still have my hula hoop, too!)

Brita said...

Happy Birthday!! May birthdays are best! Mine was last week. I wish to visit person to person for a class on my longarm from Linda V Taylor! I can watch videos all day, but I think having her standing beside me would be amazing.

The 23rd is a great day! It falls right between my brother's (22nd) and my (24th) birthday. May is a wonderful month!! Right now I am into machine quilting, so I would probably choose Mctavish. She seems cool when I watch her on you tube.

Happy Birthday! May there be much fabric in your future!

Happy birthday a bit early!
I'm not very familiar with any designers but I would like someone who really taught me to do the quilting.

Pat V. said...

I was also gonna say Bonnie Hunter, in fact, I will say it! That would be such fun!

Have a happy, quilty May birthday!

Kathy S. said...

My favorite teacher would be my grandmother, Dora Maxhimer. I would probably cry the whole time just to see her. She has been gone for about 38 years. I know she would be proud and wanting to talk to me about today's technology in quilting as much as I would talk to her about patience. But I know that she's looking over my shoulder on those days that all of my corners are matching up perfectly. :)

Elenor Burns. I've had a class with her and had so much fun.

Those little angry bird toss games are adorable!! Wow, see, now you know why I need to come learn from you. You do such a variety of things. Stephen would just love that. And he loves birds. Ok, after May I might have to have me a try. He would just giggle and giggle...I can hear him now!

What a generous birthday giveaway too! I hope you have a wonderful birthday. You give so much of yourself to others.

Debbie said...

Happy Birthday...wow, that is a hard question...maybe Sue Garman because I'm working on a couple of her quilts now and maybe convince her to not use all these little pieces in her appplique!

I would choose Terry White for improving my thread painting skills!
I did get to go to a trunk show a couple years ago with Bonnie Hunter -- it was great! She shares great information!
Great topic this week! Thanks for the idea!

I saw Bonnie Hunter when she was at the Northern Stars Quilters' Show 2 weeks ago, but didn't get to take the class. There are 2 quilters I would like to learn from, Natalie from Missouri Star Quilters (I love her videos) and you.. You always seem to have interesting projects going on and I would love to learn how to use the little pieces that I find so scary.

Mom and inlaws arrive tomorrow, and youngest son graduates this weekend (did I mention a party for about 100+ on Friday night)? I have to pack up my machine in the morning (waaa!). HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!
