Stitching Sunshine Blog Hop

To Brighten Our Day

I would like to thank CARLA for hosting this brillant Hop and look forward to seeing what everyone has to share with us.  With it starting just after Summer Solstice ( or maybe you're in Winter Solstice and need a warm up) it is a great way to welcome in the summer season.

I had this image in my files for a long time with the thoughts of painting a quilt block to hang on my porch.  It is called SunBurst Blossom and reminds me of the many fields of day lilies that are around the farm  used for naturalization of an area not suitable for anything else.  Day lilies always pop out upon the first few hot, humid days of Summer.

I had to really dig thru my scraps to find bright sun shiney yellows.  A couple of the vintage calico units are actually 'made' fabric, but it all worked out.  I put corner hangers so this could be used as either a wall hanging or .......

a table topper.  I don't have side tables or a coffee table.  When I tried to set up a nice photo shoot on my kitchen table - I had to furkids thinking this was a wonderful new 'bed'.  So it's out on the lawn for an in the sunshine photo with one of my great grandmother's favorite pieces that she brought out for the summer to fill with wild flowers of all kinds.

Please be sure to visit today's Hosts:

  11. That is absolutely gorgeous. I had to laugh about photo shoot troubles with your fur babies. LOL!! Some days we fight the same fight around here. That would make an awesome barn/porch quilt pattern too!

  12. What a wonderful sunny quilt. And so many of my quilt photos have a kitty foot or tail or nose in them that I understand having to retreat outside for the photo op. :) The quilt looks perfect on the grass.

  13. The first of our daylilies (Stella D'oro) opened this week. They are as bright and sunny as your tabletopper. It's a perfect little quilt for summer. We don't have enough room for a field of daylilies, it must be a beautiful sight.

  30. Cute wallhanging Sharon, the colors are fun and the design is lovely. Loved how the little furbabies got in the way when trying to take photos, now that we have a small dog, if I put something on the floor to take a picture she comes and lays right on top of it to so I know how that goes myself. :) Still it's fun to see how they take to the projects.
