I love how this is working for me. As much as we all love starting something new, there is that hidden project that needs it's time to shine, also.
'Countdown to Christmas' done in Midwinter Reds line was my March 'Something Old' and pleased that it is now ready for quilting. It is bagged with backing and batt for the longarmer (someone new). I hope to have it delivered to her in the next few days.
I felt horrible when I found these blocks. My 'Something Old' for April project. These were for Bea's Scrappy Chain QAL. I need to check the pattern, layout, and count blocks (may need a couple more made) and get busy putting this into a quilt top.
I actually had listed my Book It project as also my 'Something New' project, but that seems cheeky with all the NEW things I started in March. So I am using my lozanges blocks for the new leader/ender project with Bonnie Hunter - you can find them under her 'free pattern' file.
For April's 'Something New' I will be using the new Triangle QAL (see button on side bar). I've had this FQ bundle of 'London' by Free Spirit that I won almost a year ago. The first assignment was cutting all the triangles.
See, another new start - love it!! I will be using my Monthly Doll Quilt Swap Group project for this one. This month's theme is 'Diamonds are Forever' and my partner and I agreed to stay on theme.

Yep - I'm going large for a change. We do have to challenge ourselves. I love working with small pieces, so doing a large block will be my challenge. I have some bright and fun left over FQs (I have some more fun polka dots to pull). This book caught my eye as an 'I have to have this one' and it sat. It was the cover quilt and that is the project I am using for April.

Yay! Get out there and get walking, get the blood pumping and stay healthy so you can do a lot more quilting :*) Our weather has finally warmed up, so I'll be walking now too - my favorite form of exercise.

ReplyDeleteThe best of the best of the best in the post was the news of being released by the surgeon. I am thrilled. Wow ~ how wonderful. Great news. I need some great news. It seems this weeks has been filled with downers. Congrats. I am participating in the Triangle QAL and need to get in gear with cutting my triangles. I was diagnosed with diverticular disease this week. The doctor put me on two antibiotics and I already am feeling better. I love seeing all your projects. You are very, very prolific. Again, congrats on the release from the doctor.

ReplyDeleteSharon, I love your Christmas quilt -- great combo of colors/prints and pattern!! Those are nifty little blocks you're using for L/E stitching, too!! I need to find that large blocks book and do some creating with it! Sounds like fun! :)

It is strange pulling out old projects because they bring out a whole range of feelings depending on the circumstances in which they were started. The scrappy chain look interesting. The fabrics for your large blocks look so bright and happy. The quilt will be lovely.
