May For Me

Well folks, did you find some May for Me time?  Even if only 5 minutes a day?  Friday I spent most of the day babysitting the grandies while my daughter attended a training class for work.  Saturday was a gorgeous day, so a lot of breaks from my Doll Quilt Swap project with mini walks and some flower gardening.  Sunday was my un-plugged day - some guests for part of the day, gardening, and a bit of hand work.

TIP

You've seen that tub of scraps several times - well this is what is left.  I dumped it onto the table to deal with it.  My tip - and I learned this the hard way - deal with those left over pieces after EACH project.  Don't bag them, box them, drop them in a drawer!  I now put away the yardage, FQ size and/or cut down into useable size - NO more stock piling!

So that 'quilting lifetime' pile was broken down into strips or cut into workable squares and added to the barrels.  Yes, that 2" barrel I just emptied for the postage stamp quilt is almost filled again - and the 2.5" one is STUFFED to the brim.  Now that bin has my bagged pieces for the Rainbow Challenge (they will be emptied by the end of the year) and my two 'need to quilt' quilts for the month

  11. I think my favourite May flower would have to be whichever one I see when I look out of a window - in other words I love them all, but this year, with the dreadful weather we've been having, everything is at least a month behind, so there's not much of anything apart from daffodils at the moment.

  12. Definitely the Lilac. Love the color and adore the scent! Thanks for the giveaway. Mary

  14. A difficult question because after a hard winter I'm just pleased to see any flowers. I think my favourite must be the bluebell.

  15. I know, I know about all the scraps. They do add up fast. I always put away the bigger ones but I have to tackle the 2 bins full of smaller ones.

My favorite flower is alstromeria. Thanks for the chance to win.

  27. Not much May for Me time yet, but I plan on making those 5 minutes very soon. I love it when the roses bloom after their winter pruning.

Your fabric choices are gorgeous - especially the Kasuri and PB&J.

  29. As I am keeping the tissue companies in business single handedly at the moment can I be a Spring Grinch and say:
I do not like spring flowers
I do not like their whiff (smell)
All they do is make me sneeze and sniff!

Sorry - I know that is a terrible poem but I had to do something to make up for the grumps!! Hayfever is no fun at all this year!!

  30. Favorite May flower is either the Mayflower (but that sometimes comes in April) or Daffodils.

  31. What sizes do you cut your pieces down to? I need to start sorting my scraps and need some ideas. Thank you for the give away. I would like the Avalon/Happy Go Lucky if I win.

  32. Kinda hard to find even 5 minutes this month. I have stopped at thrift stores while I drove across several states. I'm not a gardener, so, I don't have a clue what blooms in May. Around here, we still don't have blooms yet. I like almost anything that has flowers.

  33. How do you decide what size to cut your scraps into? Do you keep strips or cut everything into 2 or 2.5" pieces? My favorite May flower is a daffodil. They are so bright and cheery and the deer leave them alone. Thanks for the chance at your giveaway.

  34. I like petunias. They come in so many colors. This has been and looks to be a very busy month for me. Finding some May for Me sewing time is going to be challenging.

  35. I'm guessing our may flowers are quite different to yours down here in Australia! Our petunias are flowering and I do love their colours.

  36. I hope I am not too late to enter your give away. I read your storage system and it is a lot like mine. I use all containers from food that has a good lid. Many small squares will lay in the nicely..
    Keep up the beautiful work!

  37. I love peonies this time of year, but mine are so far behind this year. It might be July when they bloom. That cold weather slowed everything down.
