Most excellent post! You got me started cutting squares from scraps years ago. A lot of projects have been generated from that tub of 2.5" squares. I'm always adding squares and taking away squares. This year I've started cutting strips for specific scrappy quilt blocks in mind. Thanks for your helpful tips.
I just started working on 30 years of scraps. Your suggestion of starting with the big pieces makes so much sense ... I could use the happiness of having a whole tub done fast!
I've already started the process via Bonnie Hunter, but still have a long way to go. And I use some different sizes from Bonnie's. Do you have a fancy cutting machine (like a Go or Sissix) or do you just use your rotary cutter. It just seems to take so long to cut down even a few scraps, but that's probably because I don't like cuttin multiple layers. I just don't seem to get accurate cuts with multiple layers. I really enjoy your blog and laugh every time you say this year's theme is simply since you still have many projects going on at once.
Just wanted ya to know I enjoyed your post at Sarah's! After hoping over to Fabric Therapy post...I realize I DO NOT have a problem with scrap managment...as I don't have much. LOL!! I usually cut my leftovers into strips and then when my buckets get full sew them into made fabric and create a quilt.
Great post on using your scraps. Really good ideas about figuring out who you are as a quilter......except i don't fit in any one slot! lol, that's okay, I just play with everything in the boxes. Thanks for sharing your hints.
I loved reading your post over at Hands 2 Help. I analyzed my process and it works for me as you know. I dump my scraps in the mail and let someone else feel the joy of organizing them. Smiles all around.
Your control of scraps information is very helpful. I need to start cleaning up my sewing room. It is getting way out of hand.

ReplyDeleteLove you scrap tips. I can manage all but the maintenance one, that one I mess up on every time.
ReplyDeleteVery nice job over there Sharon, I do follow some of your instructions, now I need to do the rest.
