I love this concept of being agle to have no guilt in starting something new. There is no pressure to finish, just start. Although I usually am a finisher, I am learning to let some thing sit until the next month or so for that part of the process without being concerned. Although, I think next month I need to work on that pile a little more so it doesn't overwhelm.
My official NewFO for May was my Monthly Doll Quilt Swap. The theme for the month was 'Go Modern', but my partner and I decided we would make a little quilt that represented the month of May for us. I chose a star flower pattern with little calico prints.
And my little dolly that goes with the quilt with special label.
Working on something old has made me go thru all those little hidey-holes and clear out some items I totally forgot about.
I was so embarressed to find these little stitcheries tucked in a box. They were a free stitch along with Paul Stoddard back in 2011. I had used a verigated purple/grey floss (not sure what brand) and the blocks were a little plain so I used my color pencils to lightly shade in the letters. A pretty purple/tan/grey mosiac print FQ worked perfectly for sashing and border.
My New was also my Monthly Simply Small Project w/Candy Charms. This pattern was given to us by Sherri at A Quilting Life to use in a small project. I have been on a bit of a pillow run for adding to the Christmas Box. I used up some odds/ends of Collecion for a Cause - MillBrook Series 1853 with muslin.
I finished my other monthly goals: Relaxing Round Robin(adding last round), RSC14 (green blocks), Let's Book It (Doorway to China), and Christmas Challenge (crayon roll-ups). I also had a little zip pouch for a swap, but totally forgot to take pictures, but it is safely at it's new home.
I will be linking up with Barbara at Cat Patches for NewFO
and Never too Hot to Stitch for SO/SN
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

ReplyDeleteWow Sharon the little quilt and doll are gorgeous as is all your work, thankyou for sharing.xx
ReplyDeleteI'm a star person so I really love the doll quilt and pillow, the colors in the quilt are so good together. I still have a very early quilt (8 years) waiting for binding.
ReplyDeleteThe doll quilt turned out so cute!
ReplyDeleteI just love your doll quilt, but I love everything you do.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little quilt! I find forgotten projects stored in boxes more often than I like. If it's out of my sight, it's often out of of my mind :(
ReplyDeleteThe Doll quilt is precious! Love all the colors.
ReplyDeleteYour Home Sweet Home quilt turned out beautifully. So did your pillow. You had a pretty productive month.
What a great month, you accomplished so much! I just love the doll quilt, great colors and fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI love your little doll quilt Sharon. You have been very productive.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little stitchery Sharon! And I love the way you've lightly shaded the letters - perfect :) The pillow will make a lovely Christmas gift - it's a very visual pattern. It's nice that you and your partner were able to choose the type of doll quilts you wanted to make this month - the green points around the "flowers" is the perfect "leafy" touch :)
ReplyDeleteI love the stitchery, too ... and the darling doll quilt. There's really no shame in finding/reviving an old project. I picked up one of the oldest UFOs to work on for the rainbow scraps challenge ... and whenever I post an update, I get so much positive response ... it's all good ;-)
ReplyDeleteI do love your doll quilt and its accompanying dolly! So sweet. You've had a great month in the stitching department.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to pack a fair bit into a month.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my blog -- I'd forgotten over the past twenty-two years, how long it takes to settle into a new house!
from what I've seen in blogland, a UFO from 2011 is nothing! Add a 0 to the end and it'll be a true UFO! Love those sweet little stitcheries
ReplyDeleteYour doll quilt is cute. I have wondered how to get involved in a swap. the stitching looks great with the shading added.
ReplyDeleteYour stitchery is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI really like the doll quilt and the stitchery. The stitchery is similar to one by Jenny of Elefantz, but hers is done shabby chic. You sure are a busy lady!
