Are you finding some ME time? I've taken some lovely walks (I needed to breath and relax) and went and had my hair done today. We are to have a few days of rain, so being indoors will resolve to some 'de-junking'. Most people de-clutter - clutter is things that need to be put in their proper spot or passed on to someone who can use it or give to GoodWill. But this is just JUNK, and junk needs to be thrown out, so de-junking.
I pulled the last of my box of odds and ends to sort and kit for mini projects. I have been in a bit of a funk for the last few days as I had a horrible experience with some brand new fabric that just made me not want to even see or think of stitching while I sorted my mind. Playing with scraps does sooth my soul though.
Little baskets are fun and everything was all right at hand to make the process quick and mindless sewing.
Since I was up very early in the morning being restless - I had 50 of these little beauties stitched up (yes, I go nuts when I am away from the machine too long) before my SIL came to sew for a bit before we headed to the hairdresser.
And two baggies of components got put together to make these wonky stars.
I cleaned up the little cut-offs and cast aways from my SILs latest project. This will be finished up for a little doll quilt for the Mrs. Claus project. Pinwheels always make for a fun quilt.
WINNER
The winner of the Jelly Roll of La Belle Fleur by French General is:
Ham and cheese sandwich or a salad.
This week's give away is the last of the May For Me celebration - I want to finish up all my give aways and mailings as I want to UN-Plug the last few days of the month for a little ME time away (important posts have been made and scheduled for release). And since it is also my Birthday week - something special.
'Oh Pinwheels' featuring Noteworthy. A complete kit that includes everything for the top and the binding - you just need backing and batt. You can see Debbie's tutorial for this specific quilt pattern HERE over on Moda Bake Shop.
Just leave a comment on what do you do to calm and sooth your soul? I will ship internationally, be sure I have a way to contact you. Comments close Weds, May 28 (12pm EST) with winner announced the next day.
**Karen - your e-mail is bouncing so I hope you can contact me - maybe you have a different e-mail as it is the yahoo Dmarc upgrade that is messing this up**
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon
Congratulations! Most of the time praise will take care of things...well actually everything if I stop and do it.
ReplyDeleteLove all your little baskets. I picked out fabric for one block...Giggle.
Congratulations to Karen!
ReplyDeleteI'm doing lots of de-cluttering/junking too - it must be the time of year!!
Happy birthday Sharon!
Congrats to lucky Karen... but more importantly HaPPy BirTHDaY Sharon for May ??
ReplyDeleteI'll throw my name in again for a win so to relax and calm down I have a L-O-N-G hot shower. Wasteful perhaps...but so "just what I need".
Thanks again... xox
Love working in the yard!! Pulling weeds to me is so relaxing (I know that sounds weird).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!!
Happy birthday Sharon and a big congrats to Karen.xx
ReplyDeleteHave a great birthday Sharon! One thing I find helpful to calm my mind is exercise -- not sure if that's odd or not. Also, mindless sewing like wonky log cabin blocks where things don't have to match.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you! What a wonderful month to have a birthday, and yes, I enjoyed a lot of Me time in May too! Love your baskets, stars, and pinwheels. You have such a flare for creating beautiful little quilts. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, chocolate seems to be the thing that best soothes me!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time-out and enjoy your birthday.
Happy Birthday Month! Enjoy your ME time.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great birthday and enjoy the down time. Getting outside always calms me, playing with the dogs, a little gardening just about anything outside in the fresh air.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the de-junking. I always feel better after things have been tossed away. I like to listen to an audio book to relax. I can close my eyes and tune out to everything but the book. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all have a very Happy Birthday and then enjoy a quiet Holiday weekend. Love all of your little blocks. To wind down and tune out I sew. Preferably boring type work nothing really creative. Finding a pattern that requires lots of string piecing is good.
ReplyDeleteMe time - those few moments, an hour if I'm lucky, late in the evening when I can sit down and do some hand quilting. One of my favorite blocks is pinwheels, one day I'll take all my scraps and make an entire queen size quilt of just pinwheel blocks. Hope you have a wonderful birthday!
ReplyDeleteI love a long walk, run, or swim to give me some down time--swimming is best when I'm in shape, because there is nothing really to do but stare at the line on the bottom of the pool as you swim back and forth--gives me good thinking alone time!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, I listen to music and turn the volume up. I some times go for a walk and/or sew.
ReplyDeleteHi!!!! Happy Birthday!!! You came up with a lot of pretty blocks!!!! Sewing or being creative in some way does help me relax!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I find that hand work of most any kind calms and soothes my soul. I love your little baskets, but sewing tiny pieces, YIKES!
ReplyDeleteHand work is my go to thing to calm my soul. Quilt bindings work well. Happy Birthday! Love the little baskets!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday week, Sharon. Soooooo sweet doll quilt : )
ReplyDeleteTo reduce stress, I often step outside and walk around. Sewing, cleaning, pulling weeds, playing Sudoku, and eating chips also helps. Yup. I'm weird.
Congrats to Karen. You do wonderful things with scraps; those baskets and stars are so perfect. They will make lovely projects. Sometimes I need to get busy to relax, like go outside and work in the yard or get going on one of my projects. And sometimes it's a glass of wine and quiet. I hope you have a wonderful birthday.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Love those red, black and silver stars. I calm my soul by taking a long bath. I have lots of good smelling things to add to the bath, and, a book to read is a requirement.
ReplyDeleteI go for a walk and talk to the Lord and then all seems right.
ReplyDeleteI do love to go thru some fabrics just to feel them. Most days I do not get to sew due to many changes in my life..
Happy Birthday to a deserving Woman who goes above and beyond!!
Enjoy your unplugged time too..
I find sewing really calms me and refreshes my soul , this month has been tough not being able to do that . I can't believe how much you can accomplish , those house are adorable and I love pinwheels . Happy Birthday , enjoy !
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! ! My birthday is the 25th.. I am relaxing with a small road trip and visiting the fabric shop.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a most wonderful birthday my friend!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love those star blocks!
xx
Happy Birthday. Spending time out on the water at our lake home is what relaxes me. Just watching the water glisten in the sun, listening to the birds call or the wind in the trees, that's what works for me. Enjoy your unplugged time, I know I do.
ReplyDeleteWell first of all Happy Birthday:) What soothes me is mindlessly sewing miles and miles of precut strips into something. I have a couple of go to scrap patterns and have kits of them cut up. When I need to unwind I pull out one of my premade kits and just run the machine. Joanne
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! My walks, a glass of wine, sewing....all are my soothing pleasures! Thanks for the chance to win such a generous prize!
ReplyDeleteI love your wonky stars!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
Happy Birthday! I find walking through a store with no purpose a relaxing and soothing thing to do.
ReplyDeleteA walk always settles me too Sharon but right this moment I'm sitting on my deck in the cool of the morning listening to the birds and reading a few of my favorite blogs. I got home from the mission last night and I'm just basking in the thought of being surrounded by my own stuff. Being away for several weeks really makes you appreciate your "stuff." The early morning quiet is a balm I think. There are no boats on the lake yet and the best way to describe it is serene. Of course in a few minutes I'll have to grocery shop, finish unpacking, go visit a friend who lost her husband this week, do my laundry and clean out an outside pantry the chipmunks have gotten into! blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteI love the little basket blocks. I'm always drawn to the small projects you make, but my seams are not accurate enough to make small HST.
ReplyDeleteWalking on the beach or working in my garden restores me. Unfortunately, the winter doesn't always allow for that, so when I am trapped indoors I play with my scraps and make chunky blocks.
Have a wonderful birthday week!
ReplyDeleteI love the Wonky Stars. You got a lot done with your scraps.
I go play with fabric when I'm over whelmed, stressed, etc. It really helps me put things in perspective.
Have a happy birthday Sharon and enjoy your little May for Me break. To calm and sooth my soul I stitch, of course!
ReplyDeleteBelated happy birthday! I hope you had a fabulous day! When I'm stressed, I just need to sit down and sew for a few minutes. Works every time. Thanks for the fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. To calm and sooth my nerves I hang out with the new little trees at the back of my back yard.
