October NewFO

2013NewFO

What a busy month this was - and then over to face the shock that Christmas and the New Year are not too far away!  I worked on filling in on some of our shop stock as we go into November's busy vending season.  And all those Halloween items for the Wicked Hop and even the items for the For The Boys Hop coming up - I am on the first day.

Rather than re-show pieces already posted, I'll just share items not seen either because they were in-progress or kept secret because they were swaps - those have all been received now.

Those green log cabin blocks made it to a finish - a pretty wreath wallhanging.  My SIL made the 'berries' as mine just never came out looking right.  Thanks Jeri.

You saw the blocks waiting for their pillow forms - these are easy to make.  Just a 12.5" unfinished block with 2.5" strip around to make them 16.5" and then an envelop back to make them a nice 16" pillow.  Stuff in those forms and TA-DA!

'Baby Birds' out of Konda Luckau' Simply Charming Minis book.  I used some scrap Christmas fabrics (backed with the green) and with a large pillar candle and black matt candle holder - an easy gift.

This needle case is a 'First Friday Freebie'  pattern on Kaaren's site - The Painted Quilt.  It was for one of my swap groups and has been received.

This is the lovely doll quilt I received from my October partner.  The theme was 'Where You Live', but my partner lives 10-15 miles from me and our homes/area are so similar we opted to chose what you want.

I love postage stamp quilts - about the only pattern I ever repeat - and Amy went with small (I like tiny pieces) and made sure none of my fabrics where in it.  Yes, she comes to one of our sew-along days of the week and I have gifted on or let her come raid my stash.  Love how she did the flower quilting in the center and then all that cross-hatching - lovely setting.

And this is the quilt I made for Amy.  We got to swap in person on the day she came to class - it's sitting on Amy's new sampler project.  A New York Beauty block in various styles and each section to represent the four seasons that we get to enjoy where we live.  Of course, the little doll dressed in scraps from the quilt - using something from each of the 'seasons'.

November may be a quiet month on the blog as I will be vending as well as our family in-home shop is having special open house all month.  I have one NewFo started - that pink cadillac - gosh that is fun fabric.  It may be my only sewing. And my day with For the Boys is Nov 6th. as well as I am in the Black Tie Hop and scheduled for the 22nd - that project just needs binding sewn down.

Linking up with Barbara over at Cat Patches - stop over and see everyone's NewFO's for October.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

I love postage stamp quilts too... grabbing all those little pieces and making a beautiful quilt out of them.
And about Thanksgiving and Christmas! I agree...What happened? How did go from being summer to the holidays being a few weeks off?! We still have beautiful green grass here but the temps have really dipped. All coming too soon.

The wreath quilt is so lovely. It looks just great, as does everything else. The little postage stamp quilt is sweet.

Cool projects. I feel repetitive some times when I have to link up for NewFO. Nice to have an excuse to Start something NEW every Month.

Love the wreath. I can't imagine how small all those little squares are in the postage stamp quilt, very impressive.

Good luck with finding a few minutes here and there to stitch during November.
