Since we are expected to be buried in snow for the next couple of days with a super NorEaster, I thought it best to get this posted in case we lose power (everyone stay safe out there). Challenge #3 was using the inspiration of Annie Young's art work. I was going to skip this one as I have a lot going on and the storm issues, but I came across these two small pieces of scrap fabric and was inspired to put together a mini.
I trimmed the taller one and then just sliced them to 'infuse' the two.
After the fusion, I just sliced corner-to-corner to offset the piece. Now to play with this mini.
I used various Sulky threads in verigated and metalics, some Connecting Threads, and SoFine for bottom (bobbin) - and just had fun thread painting. Here's the back - I like to use the set in corners with small dowel for hanging a mini. I signed and dated the one corner. The backing is a Tula Pink - just enough for the project and I used a left over binding from my binding drawer.
A 9" x 12" mini completely from scraps - a play with wonderful thread - texture, color, and fun all done up in about an hour of play. Won't you join in the Project Quilting Challenge? It really doesn't take long at all and you find you have created a wonderful project in no time.
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful little mini Sharon!!! I love the color play and the diagonal slice absolutely makes it! I always enjoy seeing the way thread can totally change the look of a piece and give it an entirely new personality :*) Great job!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I woke up this morning I was surprised and delighted to find that we still had power. We were in the 12-18 inch band and luckily wound up with about 12 inches. I spent the day yesterday playing with scraps and ironing so that if we lost power I could spend today cutting. I hope you came through it okay.
ReplyDeleteI love the mini. Thanks for showing how you sliced and diced it. I really enjoy seeing the creation in process.
What you did with these two relatively boring prints is just magical!! Now they tell the story of a wonderful winter sunset! Just gorgeous!! What an inspired hour...
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this, Sharon. I have some fabric that would be suitable for a piece like this. I'm going to have to get that out and think about it.
ReplyDeleteVery creative mini! I've never seen the set in corners for hanging. I really like that idea and will have to try it soon. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! That is so cool!
