Doll Quilts & A Heart Filled Full

I want to share some little quilts with their matching dollies.  This one was a little quilt from Konda Luckau's 'Simply Charming Minis' book - Criss Cross Applesauce.

This was a private swap I set up with another blogger - I love her work and she so wanted one of my little quilts/dollie.

And this is the sweet little quilt she sent me - with my own little prim patchwork Angel.  Bricks and stepping stones - a large quilt that I am slowly collecting fabrics for.  So I will have one for me and one for - oh, need to get out the doll bed my Dad made long ago.  And a sweet card that is also her label.  LOVE IT!!  You can visit Wilma HERE .

This was my quilt for the Monthly Doll Quilt Swap.  The February theme was 'Something I Love' and my partner, Vickie, loves hearts (and it is her birhday month, too).

And her little matching dollie and my signature label for the doll quilts.  You should go visit Vickie HERE and wish her a Happy Birthday (I don't know the exact day, but sure she will love it).

These two little quilts are for the 'Get Your Mrs. Claus On' and are the 12" x 18" size for a cradle.  I want to make at least one if not two a month when I play with my Rainbow Challenge blocks.  I had a layer cake of ABC123 and will use this as my fabric base for all my little quilts.  I have it stored in the tote with my Rainbow projects so I will remember.  And I am using up my left-over bits of binding on these too - maybe that will help to clean out that drawer.  Check the side bar button and consider filling someone's heart with a little doll quilt.

Closing Thought

The steady lulling drum,
Of the needle sewing through,
Layers of fabric,
That textured stuff of softness,
That comes on bolts of bright colors,
And night shades.
Something luxurious can be made,
Here in this tiny room,
Where it is just me,
And the thought of you.
Sewing things for memory's sake,
The way she taught me how.
First a quilt I did make,
And then a simple doll.
No matter the project,
My machine gives that same lull.
Its like a soothing lullaby
That makes my heart fill full.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

  1. Great quilts and I love the little dollies. I have been using scraps for doll quilts (ala Get Your Mrs. Claus on) this year, also. Fun to use the scraps right away!

  9. Visiting from Vickie's post today. Loved her doll quilt and matching doll. You sure made her birthday special!! I'm enamored with the dolls. Have been thinking of finding a pattern to make some kind of doll, but now that I've seen yours, I KNOW I'll definitely have to go on the search for one similar.
