Antique Quilt Show - Part One



INDIGOS


Ohio Star in Garden Maze Setting - 1847




Another Ohio Star in Garden Maze Setting - 1844




Puss in the Corner - yr. unknown



Feathered Star - yr. unknown




Bricks - although marked yr. unknown, we found 1866 stitched in it





Oak Leaf - Yr. unknown



Trade Winds - yr. unknown

All of these indigo quilts came from two estates - but history back to the same family, so those that had no date on them all had to be made around the same general time period - 1840's-1860's

LOG CABINS








Although these three log cabins came from different families - and no date - you can see the indigos within these - the added shirting and color would bring them into the 1860's - 1900 .  Actually two of these happened to be relatives of the indigo quilts owners - so some fabric sharing??

    Isn't it wonderful seeing these "old" quilts and then imagining all the people who made these beauties! Oh what stories they hold.

    I really like indigo anything...and that third one Sharon, irish chain is gorgeous...sew is the zig zag....mmmmm I may have to check my stash..I know I have nothing in the color yet lol..

    From the usual size of labels on quilts at shows, I'd say those Ohio Stars are quite small! Very impressive quilts. Claire aka knitnkwilt

    Long cabins always interest me. THe two colored quilts are truly an inspiration in the antique genre.
