Long Days of June

June is the month with the longest daylight hours of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest daylight hours of the year in the Southern Hemisphere. June in the Northern Hemisphere is the seasonal equivalent to December in the Southern Hemisphere and vice versa.

June is,also, known for the large number of marriages. The month is named after Juno (Hera)who was the goddess of marriage and a married couple's household, so some consider it good luck to be married in this month.

The Rose is the birth flower for June and this is the 'Silver Anniversary' rose bush - we gifted and planted for my parents on that special occasion. It has the most gorgeous silvery white flowers that last forever - I would love to show more of our flower gardens, but it has been raining every day since 'Beryl' stormed thru.

DESIGN WALL

I was gifted with 2 charm packs of 'Petite Odile' by French General and I thought they were perfect for the June Schnibbles. Yes, couldn't wait to play with them and actually this pattern (a pattern offered by Rosie for last month's participatnts Parade of Schnibbles) goes together rather quickly - so I may have a completed FULL size quilt this month. ** linking up with Patchwork Times**

This little dollie and her quilt are heading out with the Monday morning mail - to Florida, so I won't get as nervous with this package's trip. She is part of the Monthly Doll Quilt Swap.

I have a shorter 'challenge' list this month, but that's good as I am concentrating on a commission piece.

There are some new buttons on the side bar:
Beginner's Quilt Along - new quilters (and maybe some of us old quilters) should take a look - many tips to be offered along the way.
Purse Palooza Challenge
Dresdan Challenge

CLOSING THOUGHT

"Mine is the Month of Roses; yes, and mine
The Month of Marriages! All pleasant sights
And scents, the fragrance of the blossoming vine,
The foliage of the valleys and the heights.
Mine are the longest days, the loveliest nights;
The mower's scythe makes music to my ear;
I am the mother of all dear delights;
I am the fairest daughter of the year."
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

Those roses are absolutely gorgeous. And have fun with all your sewing plans for the month. I know for me I'm getting very itchy to start something new.
