Snippets
Snippet: definition - a small part, piece, or thing.
Synonyms: crumb, nubbin, patch, scrap, snip
And I have been playing with lots of snippets - managing to condense 3 large totes into one - YEAH! And playing along with the Christmas Quilt Along has cleaned up a lot of seasonal scraps condensing one tote and two large bags into that one under/bed tote.
SQUARED UP
I decided to take my previous 2-match ups and make a 6.5" block by using 3 rows of them.
This will be a work in progress with such small snippets. I used 6 blocks for a row setting one way and then the next row I flipped the entire row for this 'confetti' look. BUT so much room for play.
SOMETHING NEW
Since I had a weekend post and some of my other projects are secrets (swap partners read my blog), I thought I would take the opportunity to introduce some fabric sites to quilters - there are lots of fabric companies and designers. Since this weekend our own Windham, NY had a quilt show and their quilt shop had a special sale to compliment - I thought I would invite you to view Windham Fabrics. Lots of free projects, too.
CLOSING SNIPPET
'The history of all times and of today especially teaches that women will be forgotten if they forget to think about themselves.. '
- Louise Otto-Peters, 1849
Three totes into one is great!!
ReplyDeleteIt must be neat to live near a fabric companies shop. I live near the designer Tula Pink but she really isn't my style. Her shop is nice though.
I really like the "confetti" quilt!
ReplyDeleteYou are an inspiration for using up the stash!
ReplyDeletelove the snippet quilt top! Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI think the saying goes" the total effect is greater than the sum of all the parts" ( my wording) I love your confetti quilt. What a wonderful stash buster. It uses all colours and even one little square of leftover. It is on my to-do list.
ReplyDeleteYour confetti quilt is beautiful! What a great way to use up tiny bits of stash.
ReplyDeleteReading your blog is as dangerous as watching Hoarders - it makes me want to go clean out my storage tubs!! Love the confetti quilt - very cute!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sarah...and it is especially dangerous for me, since my sewing machine is so near my desk in my office! LOL I want to jump up and pull from my stash....oops there's a customer calling. Pesky people! LOL

I was wondering how your bright colorful squares with all the white would turn out. I agree with Quilt Hollow. I can imagine it quilted, washed, dried, soft, crinkled and ready to cuddle up under with a book.
ReplyDeleteI Love that confetti quilt - such simple goodness ... and all that white space provides such a great blank canvas that you could do some fantastic quilting on it Sharon!!
ReplyDeleteCreatively and beautifully designed badges. love them all.
