Help for Hexi-Aholics

Thanks to Stephanie, I have a photo of me working my Hexies at the fiber display.  I brought my Pumpkin Seed blocks, too - but it was the hexies that were a hit.  Two more were added to the pile and I should be able to get at least one more done tomorrow.

These are my co-horts this weekend - Sharon (representing the Quilt Barn Trail) and Stephanie (representing the Peaceable Day Quilt Guild) - I represented the Schoharie Valley Piecemakers Quilt Guild.  Stephanie brought this Grandmother's Flower Garden in pieces to our wonderful class with Sarah.  She had started it about 7 yrs ago by machine, but after Sarah's class she took it all apart and did it all by hand.   Look Sarah!!  She is starting to work the border now.

So I can join both Sarah Did It and Slow Sunday Stitching

AND Saturday was the Airing of the Quilts thru-out the county.  I hung quilts all around our porches and clothes lines before I had to head out - NO PHOTOS as I had my camera down at the fiber show building.  I'm hoping someone posts on FB or sends me some.

This was Stephanie's 'Airing' - what a lovely grouping of quilts.

This long fence line of quilts was sent to me by our Guild president - yeah Kathy!!

I will share photos of the fiber show tomorrow,
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

  2. You are always a hit I think.
If I was driving by and an airing like these, I would probably run off the road---mouth hanging open and eyes wide in amazement. Such beauty!!

  3. There is only one airing of the quilts in our state that I know of and that is really an overnight trip for me, so I haven't ever been. Those quilts look lovely on the fences and railings.

  6. I love the airing of the quilts. What a great idea. I'd make sure I had my camera if I were prewarned. I appreciate the hard work and the creativity that goes into a quilt. I can only imagine taking a hexie quilt apart and then hand stitching it. Oh, my! My mother made me a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt that was hand stitched and hand quilted. It was stolen from my home before I ever put it on my bed. I know who stole it and lots of other things. The DA let her walk not once but twice on the charges. The ass(t) DA had to tell me they made a mistake. I told him that we had bought a gun and since they didn't do their job, if she ever shows up at my house again, I will shoot her. His eyes got very, very big and then said that I have every right to protect my property. He said they couldn't identify her. I asked if she didn't have a driver's license. He said they didn't think of that. What a bunch of losers! Later the head DA had someone trying to kill him over a case involving a death and he couldn't understand why. I just had to let it go and figure that God will judge her someday. I have enough of my own stuff in my column - I don't need to worry about her list. I still miss some of the things she took and I can't open my jewelry box. It takes time. Anyhow, there was a silver lining. I found a box that had fabric which Mom had obviously meant for more Grandmother's flowers and some that she had hand stitched. I could tell that some of them are not up to par for her. I took a class from a lady that uses a stamp on the back of the fabric. There is a cutting line and a sewing line. She told me what size the hexies were SUPPOSED to be. I can't decided if I want to leave some of them since Mom made them or redo them. I doubt that I'll ever enter it in a quilt show and if I do, I'll notate the variance in the blocks and note that she was very ill at the time she made the flowers. That won't make any difference. Thanks for sharing another great post. The post always makes me think about WIPs and past events. Very thought provoking to me. See I don't need a therapist; I have you.

  9. Oh my goodness! I have a quilt pattern that looks so like that fence line of quilts. I've always thought of the quilts as hanging out to dry after being washed or something, but this gives me a different take on what the pattern shows. Hm. I've had that one a long time. It might be time to get it out and make it as a Let's Book It project.
