Bloom Sew Along

Summer Fun

I almost forgot about this cute pattern that Lea Anne over at Podunk Pretties was hosting until I saw Kate's fabulous EQ mock up.  A cut pattern that Lea is giving tutorials, extra patterns, fun ideas, and step by step instructions for help.

I was wrapping up some projects, clean up to prep tables and machine for some serious quilting time - thought a good time to play.  I had found this bit of remnant gifted and the butterflies reminded me of the ones Lea had in her pattern.  So used this as border and color inspiration to start.  Then I pulled out that tote of scraps that needs to be emptied.

Well, I got the turquoise. yellow, orange and some lime green - but then the butterflies just didn't go.  So I found a fun stripe (one of my favs for bindings) for the border (just enough) and even bit the bullet and mitered!  The green binding is a left over - all of this project will be scrap useage.  Even the batt and backing.  But I will get to those and then the quilting of this once I get that big quilt done.

I still like that butterfly fabric.  This is a summer sew along, so I just might have another project to make.  Be sure to see what others have linked up and maybe you might like to join in.

  5. I've done that so many times, started with a fabric then it doesn't work. The stripe is really cute and the mitering looks great.
