This experience has me discovering so many wonderful books and patterns that I so wrongfully have ignored. The bright, shiney new things dangling before us are so distracting.
There are so many great patterns in this book. I can even envision using them with other hues or go all scrappy with them.
This was the pattern I wanted to play with to use up all the skinny and scrap neutral browns I had taking over.
And even though I had a helper - of sorts .............
I managed to get two borders on. The last border will have to wait as I ran out of muslin. AND my Juki has frozen up (think a sensor has gone) and has to be serviced.
My SIL and I are passing on the group trip to AGS Syracuse - I know, whaaa - but I am having trouble with my hips and a long ride, walk and then ride home - I would be a real party pooper and laid up for weeks after. So we are going to visit a new local fabric shop, she needs a few things and I will look for some muslin and binding for this. And I need some backing for another project to send off to the long armer - so shopping we go.
Since I will be doing a lot of hand quilting demo's the next month, I chose the Rose Thimble Charm to go with the Vintage Sewing Machine Pin.

ReplyDeleteI love this one! Guess now I need a new book for inspiration? Even without the final border it is a grand one. Sorry about the hip and the change of plans....I understand as my knee has been keeping me down a bit too. Enjoy the new shop instead.

ReplyDeleteI am passing on Syracuse too. FINALLY, a big show in NY and I miss it! My issues are the heat and care of a 5 yo thru Saturday..........not entirely thrilled with summer shows- too much ekes going on here in the Catskills! Enjoy your new shop.

ReplyDeleteLove that quilt. I agree it's a great challenge for discovering wonderful patterns right in one's own sewing room. I've found some beautiful ones, for sure. Nothing from me again this month, but I think I'll be back on track next month. I really want to try that inset leaf table runner, and I can have it done for fall if I get going now.

ReplyDeleteYour neutral quilt is lovely; it makes me think of a woodworking design I've seen someplace. Too bad about the Syracuse trip, but a new quilt store sounds like fun. Hope you find some good stuff.

And your helper appears to approve as well :) I know what you mean about passing up on a long trip. I chose to not go to Chattanooga AQS this year for the same reasons. I'm glad you and your SIL are planning something fun in exchange.
