Blue Skies

Well, we finally had some blue skies even though the cold is still will us.  I even ventured out for a bit, to soak in some vitamin D and to escape from the house.  But upon returning, I thought I should tackle my RSC15 blocks with this month's color - medium blue.

A couple of 9-patch houses.  These are for a quilt with 20 houses in the center and 26 stars around the outside.  So a start to the houses.

And two Saw Tooth Star blocks for that outside border.  I will be using my scrap muslin as backing to both the houses and stars and really hope that will empty that basket by the end of the year.

And a Danish Woven Heart block which will be a nice 'Angel' quilt for Gene come next Christmas.

I still have the blocks to make for the Heritage Stars pattern.  Hopefully there will be blue skies again tomorrow for some incentive.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

  1. I've never seen the woven heart block before, so pretty! Looks like you got lots of great blocks made this week, you'll have several nice quilts at the end of the year. Best of all, those fabrics are out of the scrap bin now!

  6. Good old nine-patch. Sometimes it's fun just to do that basic block. There's something comforting about nesting those seams together.

  11. great looking blocks. I have often mused over making a quilt using muslin, giving a quilt a very 'antique' look and feel right from the beginning.

  12. Love your blue blocks and waiting for the skies to open up here. We got over an inch of rain yesterday. I'm ready for the sun!

  13. We woke up this morning to gray skies, lots of rain, and 32 degree temps. Go to church, don't go to church....difficult to decide. Since I teach Sunday School I go unless it's just very dangerous and thank goodness it got a tad warmer while we were in church. Last week, though, we had some very cold days but with that beautiful sun shining bright. I can do fine if I can just see the sun. Days without it make me grumpy as an old bear. :) blessings, marlene
