Dust Bunnies

It has come the time to tackle the awful task of cleaning this huge house. I am in the mood - "when in doubt, throw it out". And the kids have been gone for (?) years - I don't think I need to be a 'keeper of things' anymore.

Be still your hearts!! I don't think you will ever find this table CLEARED!! I don't have any projects to show because they are all secrets. Swaps that I can't show because I don't want to spoil the fun. And they all were mailed out - yes it is early, but with all the cleaning and planned re-arranging, I didn't want anything swept away. Gosh, I need a new cutting matt - that's not glare - the markings are just GONE!

Don't forget to visit the Pets on Quilts over at Darlene's. Click the button on the side. There is still time to make your own entry. My 'queen' is featured on my prior post for the pet parade.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

Housework is something you do that nobody notices until you don't do it. ~Author Unknown

Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing. ~Phyllis Diller

My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint. ~Erma Bombeck

The trouble with living alone is that it's always your turn to do the dishes. ~Author Unknown

  1. Get rid of it...it makes one feel so much better! While you are at it...throw out that mat and get a new one!

I am not a keeper of things. My husband is. Good luck on your cleaning :)

  3. Oh housework....have you also noticed that when you have cleaned and your house is all shiny and clean no one ever calls, but on the days when you haven't had time to wash the breakfast pots, and clean the kitchen floor someone ALWAYS calls URGHHHHH xx

  4. Sooo ironic! I spent the day cleaning, organizing and throwing things out!! Today i finished the guest room, the babies room and 2 closets! I even posted on facebook "who needs a pet when we have so many dust bunnies!"
I am headed back to work in just over a week and must get it all done while I am off....so tomorrow is more cleaning!

  5. I know what you mean. I have been doing the cleaning, throwing out, giving away thing for a month. Looking so much better.
Wow. You have ONE WORN CUTTING MAT!
All closing thoughts were cute, but 'ironing chore' and 'hitting head on the top bunk bed' made me laugh out loud :D

  7. hey I don't live alone and it is ALWAYS my turn to do the dishes!
Back in Aus when I was working full time, my sister and I would catch up on the phone on Sunday nights. She would ask if I had had a good weekend. If I said yes, she would know that all my housework got done. Sad eh?
Thankfully I am not so neurotic about it now! ha!

  8. The best advice I ever received was back when my husband was working at his first church, and we were living in a parsonage. A very sweet old lady told me to leave my vacuum cleaner out in the living room all the time, plugged in - that way, when someone dropped by unexpectedly, I could always say that I was just getting ready to vacuum! That advice has saved my bacon more times than I can count....... because I hate doing housework!!

And FYI, when I finally broke down and bought a new cutting board, I found that the Fiskar boards were not only cheaper than OLFA (although seem to be of similar quality) but they are double sided, so when one side wears out, you can flip it over to a grid on the other side! Smart economy!! I'm planning to take my old OLFA cutting mat and cut it into mats for my GO Cutter - I think it will work and if it doesn't, I haven't lost anything!

  10. What a fun post!
My family gets frustrated with me at times because I do a "purge" every six months or more. I can't stand the clutter, and if I'm not using it, out it goes!

  15. Looking very good, Sharon. I hate housework - last year for my big birthday, all the kids came and I cleaned, cooked, rearranged until I was extremely tired. I then told them what I wanted for my birthday next year - someone else to come clean and cook. We will see what happens. Thanks for sharing. Judy C in NC

  16. Never can decide which is better...concentrating on one room a day (excluding kitchen...that's an every day chore) and quilting afterwards, or quilting all the time and doing a marathon cleaning when I know company is coming....So most of the time I do neither...

    Happy cleaning!

  18. Love your closing thoughts about cleaning. My son says you should clean and vacuum after the company leaves as it gets so messy! Cleaning just seems so endless... you do it over and over again and it still gets messy!

  19. I'm a terrible "keeper" of things! I get sentimental way too much over way to many objects. I need to declutter too.

    I luv your housework quotes...

here's another one..."housework rots the mind"
