Monday Making 12/14/15

I had forgotten about the Moda Sampler Shuffle blocks.  I am working them in sets of 4 - they come out two every Friday, so I pull the project tote every other week.  I'm using a Howard Marcus Collection - here are the other completed blocks:

Oh, Scrap 12/13/15

Have you been following Temecula Co.'s Mini Christmas QAL?  Since I was using just two fabrics from a zip baggy I pulled from a donated bigger baggy, I had to change up some of the blocks - and I made them 3.5" unfinished, too.

There is a little of that cute prim Santa that was tucked in with this - so has to be used!   And a dark green 'crackle' I'll use for sashing.  As you can see in the photo, I have just a smidge of the two base fabrics left - cut it close for sure, but it is used up and on into what will be a cute project for the season.

Cleaning Up

I have to thank a fellow guild member for this photo - this was the 'Kevin, I can do Scrappy' mystery.  I managed to get it into the flimsie stage so I could clean that up.  And used it for my Show and Tell at our Quilt Guild Christmas meeting.  I actually passed this on to another member who will use it for her charity quilt donation - hey, I don't have to make a back, quilt it, and it is out of the house destined for use.

Since I was doing that re-org and cleaning - I pulled out the 'Heritage Stars' quilt, but since it was a nasty day I couldn't take it outside for a photo.  So some things got shoved aside so I could lay this out for a picture.  I pulled a backing and binding fabric to go with it as this will be a January finish project.

Those who have followed me for some time, know that I don't keep an inventory of fabric out - that comes in and goes out very steady.  Instead, I keep inventory of thread used for the year.  I passed on 3 empty cones to someone who makes Christmas trees with them (better get this one to her).  4 cones at 5,000 yards each  and 13 spools at 1,200 yards each equals 35,600 yards of thread - the most used since I started quilting.  But I have been doing more FMQ to finish off my own quilts as well as quilting for others.  
I have plenty of spool threads, but in this clean up I did pick up some different cone threads for (home) machine quilting into the new year.

I cleaned up my dining table - my SIL usually sews here and we use the other half for the large cutting mat.  And her rolling cart and totes got moved from the corner into the general stash area.  I had that all cleaned up, but donations of scraps have been rolling in here pretty steady as others are cleaning up for the year.  Yup, those lushous baggies and boxes of scraps are rolling in to keep me happy thru next year.

The mantel was cleaned up - the small table in front of this has been added to the Shop for our Christmas sales set-up - so the little Brother got packed away for now.  I only decorate my mantle - so slowly getting to this.

Even my Juki (all the quilting got finished) has been taken apart, cleaned, oiled, and packed off.  I just don't want it in the way of this whole clean up process.  Although I have some small projects that need a clean up, so I have to find a place to set this back up at some point.

And the furkids - - - well, Moe just chose the most comfortable chair to nap in.  I can just roll him around out of the way of the clean up as I go.  BUT, no Bella!!  She hides as soon as the vac comes out and since it is sitting waiting for the next clean up, she refuses to come into the room or near me - yeah, she carries a grudge.  

I hope to finish this project up over the weekend  - oh, no - there's the rest of the house!!
