On The Road

Saturday I had a scheduled event, so had a day away from the big Quilter's Sale.  I was scheduled to help with selling raffle tickets at a town street festival for this beautiful quilt made by many of the the Catskill Mountain Quilters Hall of Fame inductees.  Some made the log cabins blocks, some did the piecing, some did the applique, some did the hand quilting and one finished up the double binding.  A lovely group effort that acheived such a gorgeous quilt - "Flowers in my Catskill Cabin".  The winner will be pulled on our last day of the HOF quilt show in September.

There was a little parade, lots of small museums with displays, little musical groups on greens, horse drawn wagons thru the town.  Some of the local quilters had a lovely display in one of the churches, so I also got to enjoy a bit of a quilt show as well.

The quilt in the forground fascinated me as it was made by the local school with the 6th grade class making each block one of the counties in New York State with a button marking the county seat.  There were a few blocks that represented some of the counties produce.

The sale is over and a crew is coming to help with the clean up, but  I have a road trip today with the Hall of Fame picnic meeting.  I hope to have some photos to share.  It's not as hot as the past few days - I got a horrible sunburn at the raffle venue - luckily the picnic area is under cover and I really enjoy this 'social' meeting with the group.

Hope you enjoy your day,

Sharon

Quilter's Sale

The pictures are all dark as we are inside a large, dark barn.  But the sale is on - on the hottest days of the year.  Lots more books and patterns and magazines were added.

Every time I think we have them all, she comes up with 'another storage' of them and since this is a 5 day sale, we will bring more out as room allows.

Some wool and super high loft batt she no longer uses.  Time for another home.

Scrap quilters' delight here.  Garbage bags filled - $1 a bag!!  And there is more.

AND LOTS OF FABRIC

I so appreciate her sewing students (and family) that helped with the pre-work.  We had a great first day, even though being it was the 4th. Hey, we cooked hot dogs and shared with the crowd as a thank you for spending part of their Holiday with us.  Today will be some sorting, refolding, and making those empty slots so more can come out.

Well, back to the barn

Monday Making

Today the 'crew' of helpers comes in to assist with a major move of all quilty stuff into this big old barn.  My brother spent days cleaning and re-storing items kept in here to make room for this event.

We did get a few magazines and books out one night.  If you count the windows, you can tell how much of this barn is open to be filled up today and tomorrow.  NO, the wood is not for sale - it just would be such a task to move it, so it stays put.

The other side ready.  We will fill the outer portions and then there are tables to set up down the middle for filling tomorrow.  It is to be the hottest day today with the heat wave.  I hope to sweat a few pounds off, but not collapse.

Cars are pulling now, so off to work.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon
